The description says this would be good for pills & water tablets, but the description for C360 brass says it does contain around 3% lead. Anyone know more about using something like this for storing things you might potentially ingest?
flarpYou should be ok as long as you do not eat it. The lead is securely bonded in the alloy.
If you ate 10 of these you would see no ill effects from the lead content... Issues from eating 10 brass containers on the other hand...
DoHiFrom what I could find (FDA food code and a couple of postings from people working with brass for various crafting), moisture and acidic materials can chemically leach the lead out of brass. I don't know if trapped moisture from when it's closed and something like an aspirin would be enough to cause such a reaction. Granted, even then, it's probably very little, but it also doesn't take much lead to be harmful. 25ug/dL can adverse health impacts on adults (1.25mg for average adult w/ 5 liters of blood). One of these has around 1.47g (3% of 49g), or over 1000 times that amount.
So the likelihood of it reacting with what you store may be low, and the amounts that might get leached out may not be much (if such a reaction even occurs). All the same though, I'd probably stick with using this only for things I don't plan to ingest (or only put in pills that are individually wrapped, like some of those little blister packs).
Hey everyone -- Thanks for flagging this, Isaac and I were traveling for the Blade Show in Atlanta and are just getting caught up with Discussions. There was a glitch in our system that @Antibacterial noted causing shipping to default to Signature Required for overseas shipping. It's been corrected, and the new, much more reasonable rates will apply to everyone who has already joined and everyone who joins moving forward. Sorry for the confusion, thanks again for flagging this. CC @MATURA@guvnor@Summers@mabe@cloggy@Disposaleer@kawasemi
I'm with the guys above...
I would love one. Possible lowest price $29.99...shipping to the UK $25.95 = no thanks!!! This is the most expensive Massdrop shipping charge I have seen to date. Other items 10x the size can be shipped for less than $10 and I have never paid more than this.
Another active drop - Exotac Matchcap - UK shipping $4.75!!
Edit - shipping has been amended by Massdrop. Good show!
