I thought is was a $159 q-tip.
how does this weigh more than the ultralite pack paddle for under $50 thats made of plastic? is there any point to the carbon fiber one if there is no weight saving

Yes, it's obviously much much stronger and more efficient that your plastic spaghetti paddle that would probably break under any earnest adult paddling loads. It's actually quite light for a decent quality paddle, lighter even than my white water slalom comp paddles. The design is appears to be good, stable and efficient. If your a big bloke, it's a very good deal IMO.

Also keep in mind it’s a four piece paddle, which will be heavier than single or 2-pc paddle due to the extra “connections”
Anyway to get a drop for the full CF "Attack" 2-pc whitewater paddle? It would make for a nice spare that breaks down (I use a 1-pc Odachi, that's great, but isn't ultra-portable). If and when I invest in a sea-kayak, this would be great, but I'd be going in circles with a 230cm paddle with my Liquidlogic Stinger-XP (even with the skeg dropped).

I was going to join the drop but it looks like it doesn't ship to Australia!
Does it post to Australia and if so at what cost?

The one you linked isn't full cf. It's "glass filled nylon." per the description.
Carpet_Shark
Other than the obvious small difference in weight, what's the real benefit of having carbon at all? It looks nearly identical in specs to me.
230cm? Is it adjustable? Only suitable for a low angled paddle stroke at that length.
Can the paddle be feathered? The description seems to say it is "unfeathered" but the details say "RHC" and "LHC" ... whatever that means.
obxh2o
This paddle can be feathered 60 degrees in either direction. Right-Hand-Control (RHC) or Left-Hand-Control (LHC) Or it can also be used un-feathered or without feathering where the blades are on the same plane.

Thanks, CFH3
I take it this is more of a sea kayaking paddle than a whitewater paddle. Is that right?

@bleachpuppy - I would recommend you check out Advanced Elements Ultralite Pack Paddle (link below). It's a perfect match for the Klymit Packraft - light, compact, affordable and appropriate for mostly flat-water use. http://amzn.to/1roAZ38
Could you give any recommendations for paddles you'd choose over this one for multi-role situations? I plan on doing a relatively moderately chill river tour/portage trip and I need gear that is light enough to lug around everywhere but also solid enough to take a real beating.
