nickaa827Agreed but so much cheaper ; )
Maybe this is the true cost in selling this Keyboard and still turn over a profit for the company?
Imagine how many years Das has been screwing us with their exorbitant pricing for this very same model.
ElrickWelcome to capitalism. Don't Imagine... this is what is happening. Check out Zeal PCBs for example. Nothing astoundingly different, just a brand name, but people pay it because that's what they want, and brand name. People buy Das because it's Das, not because of the price point. It's not the same model tho, absolutely not, just same form.
As pointed out in the video in the Overview, the media controls and volume knob are almost exactly the same off-the-shelf parts as used on the Das Keyboard: https://www.daskeyboard.com/daskeyboard-4-professional/ (except this has a lighting button in place of a sleep toggle)
As someone using the Das 4 right now:
The volume knob is ridiculously useful (even if the tactile feedback isn't really there)
The other media buttons are just okay, no weight or decent button response
If your fixed USB cable ever breaks (hello cats!) you can take it apart and run a USB Micro-B SuperSpeed directly into the small PCB the media controls sit on.
if you can find one of these around i'd highly recommend it, a Griffin PowerMate. i have a couple of them and theyre fantastic. it can act as a bunch of media keys all in one because you can map things like a short press down, long press down, press and turn right, press and turn left for example. you can map them to be program specific or universal windows functions too, so if you want to use it for photoshop specific things you can and it will just switch to those functions once the program is active. the software has several preprogrammed functions and you can have it pass Macros/Keypresses of your choice too for more customization. i mainly use mine to control winamp so i can control volume with turns, play/pause with a quick tap, move through playlist with a hold press and turn. just a super simple way to control things. and its got a decent weight and feel to it too, so it feels good using it too.
by default it just controls windows volume though, a very basic function but nice to have available where i can move it around to where it is most convenient at the time vs always stuck on the keyboard.
bad thing is they dont really actively support it much anymore for some reason. they made a fancy new bluetooth version a couple years back but its mac only... which is infuriating because id love to have a wireless version but do not and will not ever own a mac. But, the old version 2.0.1 software works great on win10 so im good to go still.
there are still some of these out there for sale occasionally. i should probably start hoarding them in case one of mine breaks... or find a suitable replacement that is newer.
anyways, i love this little thing, been using for years with no problems. just so handy to have available.

You think they make these keyboards themselves? Isn't it obvious they have the same manufacturer?
How is the conclusion "they ripped of Das" instead of "oh so Das didn't pay for this design to be exclusive for them".
fredrikpThats a fair point. I’ll concede the possibility that I’m ignorant to what could be a great number of Das clones available. This is just the first I’ve seen and it’s quite blatant.
The product page talks about it's all black look. The pictures do suggest this looks like it has a brown/gold top panel. Which colour will this board ship in? @XiK
I am not tied to a brand. I have never been tied to specific brands. The DasKeyboard line is just the first mechanical keyboards that I had ever heard of. Now that I am here, I have begun to realize that a nearly $200 should probably do a bit more that the DasKeyboards do.
