Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

dont buy the ak380.
If you wanna go totl sony wm1z (apparently coloured wm1a)
wm1a is budget totl (seriously insane, i owned it once, best neutral player, neutral yet emotional, seriously insanely good) if you love a reference signature i highly suggest you cop this
best value goes to dpx1a hands down.
cheapest decent player prob shanling m0. early reports of laggy ui from headfi tho, friends who tried it at canjam said it was legit decent.
mojo is good at current used prices, but a pita to stack with. get it only if your focus is on driving headphones at home, with the occasional use as a portable to drive iems on the go. note the heat from it tho, and reports of battery issues with the mojo. sounds pretty great to me, nice coloured signature with rolled off highs, soundstage on the cramped side. good with hd800.
if you like more staging and power for a transportable headphone setup, ifi bl is decent. timbre can be a bit wonky according to friends, but i find it ok.
to tell apart good neutral sources takes time with the source, on first listen or a abx blind test you prob cant tell the difference, as the overall tonality is very similar, difference lies in the minute details. if youre short on cash ill say stick to the dpx1a, if you are willing to make a one time off purchase, get the wm1a. if you dont like neutral, get a cheap used mojo,
also listen bef you buy. your money, your preferences. these are just my opinions. thanks.
After quite a bit of research, I bought the Shanling M3s about four months ago from MusicTeck online. With shipping, it came to around $300, not including the cost of a 256 gig microSD card. I've been pairing it with Massdrop x MEE Pinnacle IEMs and ThinkSound On2 (on ear) headphones, in addition to jacking in by aux to the sound system in my 2012 VW Golf R (which has good, if not world-class, stock speakers). To my ears, the Shanling M3s sounds absolutely terrific on all of these....for what it's worth, I have all flac files on the DAP and use high gain setting for the Pinnacle IEMs.
The main drawback it that the M3s interface is a little clunky to navigate, but I haven't experienced any real lag, other than the having my entire music files on the microSD having to refresh (takes several minutes with a relatively full microSD), following a USB transfer from my desktop. Speaking of USB, I also like that the M3s has a USB-C connection.
