Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

If you can post more criteria to use to verify, I've got them on my desk.
Your post about serial numbers makes sense, and I've been able to verify that everything after serial 7000 is different than before (AKG is working on verifying all units for this drop are post 7000, that being said, they told me their last recorded sale started at 8000 serial so it's nearly impossible any of these units are below 7000) but I tried explaining this plastic bump situation to them and they don't know what you're talking about.
Both pictures are from the K267 thread on head-fi here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/634426/akg-k267-ti-sto-discussion-impressions-review-thread/1035
Good news though, the samples have that bump. I haven't been able to get the lighting right to show it, but you can feel it.
Seems like it's probably due to some piece of metal reinforcing the joint. Tried wrenching at the joint, didn't have any problems withstanding my assault.
Either way, you guys do do warranty, I just wanted to know what these sounded like :p
How long is the warranty if it does break? Would it be covered by you guys or do we have to contact AKG for a replacement?
