I bought these during the first drop and absolutely love them. They're massive - seriously, massive! - and that's such a good thing for watermelon heads like myself. Way more comfortable than my ATH M-50's, and a much richer, larger sound-stage.

tsniemanHow does it sound compared to the M50's? I'm selling those to get these and wonder how are you liking them?

stasisb5a4I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I think that they're better all around (treble, bass, "size of sound stage"). They are much larger and less portable, however, as they don't fold up or anything. Quite a bit warmer as well, since they 'engulf' my my ear vs sitting on them - which makes them more comfortable than the M50s as well. These work well for video games too, though I didn't play games with my M50s on much. I spend long periods of time at my desk with headphones on as a software engineer and gamer and really love these things. I gave my M50s to my girlfriend and haven't thought about them once since.

tsniemanLol. Cool, thanks for replying. I sold my M50s because I wanted these.

stasisb5a4I sold my m50's for these. m50's have much more bass - some electronic songs sound awesome, but for others I find the bass very muddy and annoying. The sound stage was very claustrophobic, ultimately why I wanted something else. To be honest they don't compare much at all - the AKG is a much more open, airy, precise sound. The m50's gave me a headache but the bass was pretty cool. YMMV

mstxGive the AKG's time to break in a bit more before assessing. I've had both the M50x and the AKG 553 Pro headphones and it was game over with the AKG's to my ears. I knew immediately and sold the M50x and never looked back.... By the way, the AKG's quality of bass is superior to the M50x though the volume of bass is about equal or slightly less....
