RaiseYoHandsWelcome to Massdrop... you order, then the product comes to them, thats how they get them cheaper... these aren't sitting on a shelf in a warehouse ready to be shipped on a moments notice...
RaiseYoHandsNot that good of a deal imo. You can get the 598 for $200, the 600 is only 2 higher but it's $60 more? That's ridiculous, corporate greed at its finest. In fact they had a deal for the 598 for $100 recently too, which just makes it seem even more ridiculous that headphones with only a 0.33% difference in sound quality are marked up so much.
Don't be fooled by the marketing hype, all I can say.
RaiseYoHandsFwiw, a reviewer of the K7xx says the sound is indistinguishable from the hd600. This deal is cheaper, the headphone is better looking, better quality, and exclusive. So why complain when it will ship a few days later?
OrangeFlavoredYour post is pure hogwash. Have you even heard the HD600? It's been around a long time, and has been known as a reference headphone by reviewers and owners for the same time. $260 for it is a great price. I won't even comment on the rest of the post as it makes little sense. I would be on this ASAP if I didn't have enough headphones in my arsenal.
OrangeFlavoredDepends. If you're more into reference gear, and have decent amp power, the HD600 wins the value game. If you're newer to the game and don't have much amp power, the HD598 is a decent starting point. That said, I still own the HD598. The K7xx will be my last sidegrade hopefully for a long time.
OrangeFlavoredThe issue with your post is you comparing the HD600 being "2 numbers higher" than the HD598. The only indication the number has of the sound is the sound quality relative to sennheiser's other headphones. Everything you said about the HD600 only being 2 numbers better in sound than the HD598 is bs. The sound signature is very different between them.
These AKGs better ship soon. So mad right now. Missed out on so many deals. Wish I could cancel...
