We need reviewers links. Although it seems like it will be an updated AKG k702 65th annie....Which I honestly have been interested in for the longest. Seems like I will have to jump on this instead of the X2
dalethorni guess im a bit late but got a review for me? I have them and so far, im loving them. But question, as it has been asked several times already. Noticed any rattling from the drivers? I want to say mine are okay but i doubled amp and when at high volumes and playing a source with 10hz and 20hz, it rattles....not sure if this is because of the double amping and or distortion or if my is a defect. Im using a Sound blaster z and the fiio e11. Only reason i tried it like this is because i think my sound blaster z is defective and not outputting the current it needs to drive these headphones, which is fiio i double amped with the fiio e11 and in which, it does sound louder but when having it at 100% in windows volume and fiio e11, it distorts starting around 80% and also vibrates and rattles...
RudyDeLaLuzRudyDelaluz, try connecting the FiiO E11 to the SB-Z's "Front speaker" jack and set the SB-Z for "2-channel" and "Speaker" output, see how that audio compares to the SB-Z's headphone output jack.
Did you disable the motherboard's on-board audio, in the BIOS, when you installed the SB-Z?
Sometimes active on-board has a negative effect on the add-on sound card audio quality.
Tacoboywell i already uninstalled the SB Z since Ill be returning it. I didnt do the above before, plugging in the fiio e11 to the front jack. I mean the reason i got it so it would have worked with the 600ohm amp that it has, which to me, doesnt sound good using the K7XX. I also use SBX for VSS. I also have the on baord sound disabled and no drivers are installed for that.
thanks for the info though
RudyDeLaLuzI chickened out. I've had experience with products where the entire series (or batches) had weaknesses like I see here. A better 'glue' job might work for most users, but not for me. If this comes up again as a new production I might bite, but it can wait. No headphone, even at $50 like the Soundmagic P21 etc. should rattle at any listenable volume. But whoever has this headphone, try to learn where the weak points are and make sure those are secured. AKG is a great brand, so a little extra fix-it would be worth the effort.
