Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I wouldn't put a burson v5i in the gain stage of the stx. Just because you can swap an op-amp doesn't mean you should. The circuit design of the stx is specifically tuned to that opamp and with the burson you're likely going to seriously mess up the feedback in the circuit. it'll probably cause overloading which will cause an increase in harmonic distortion, which will sound like bass bloom and you might find pleasant, but rest assured it is slowly destroying the card.
if you replaced only the BUFFER stage with that op-amp (the one that's only a single op amp, not two) that only goes to the rca out (It's the line out driving opamp and is not even in the headphone circuit) so if you are using the headphone out you've done nothing at all. Except decrease the driving current of the line out because the burson is a gain-stage opamp, which is bad if you try to use the rca outs.
if you'd like, i can give you some safe op amp suggestions
your safest bet would be to put the stock opamps back in (BE CAREFUL OF WHAT YOU PUT WHERE BECAUSE THE TWO AMPS THAT ARE NEXT TO EACH OTHER ARE THE SAME AMP AND THE THIRD ONE APART IS DIFFERENT)
The two amps next to each other should be njm2114 and the line out amp should be a n lm or jrc 4562
The quickest and safest way to try out something different would be to get two additional lm4562s and replace the dual njm2114s with them, so that you have 3 identical lm4562 amps in all 3 op amp slots
