Got mine about a month ago. Did bass port mod immediately. For cheap and cheerful setup I used FX Audio X6 DAC/Amp with added 12V/6A power supply. Included with X6 power supply is at 12V 1A and cannot sufficiently drive K7xx (another PS with 19V/4A on the way, cheap, why not try). Sound from PC to DAC thru USB24 bit/ 96KHz is amazing. I tried 192/24 FLACs and then Opus encoder to reduce their sizes. 320kbps MP3s sound muffled in comparison.
Two criticisms of these - incredibly hard to drive, almost like Sennheiser 6XX. Get Schiit Magni2 or FX Audio X6 with extra PS to drive them. Another criticism - they leak sound like nobody's business. Compared to them semi-open Superlux 668Bs are angels. If you want to save some money - try Superluxes 668B with HM5 earpads and FX Audio X6 DAC with extra power supply. Your relatives will appreciate less leaked sound. :)
For sound quality, comfort and price - I like K7XX. No regrets.
bravomailCan you elaborate on what you mean by the "bass port mod"?
The Fulla 2 should do the trick right? Many have recommended Fulla 2 for a budget option (although getting a stack would be the dream).
bravomailCan you back that up with experience? Haha. Sure it uses USB as a power source but many other users below have had good experience with it? There's no actual specification for the need of external power..
I wonder how much noticeable difference a Schiit Stack is compared to just a Fulla 2. I am by no means an audiophile, just an average guy who loves his music and games. Can anyone comment?
bravomailYou say, almost like Senns 6XX. The HD650 are not supposed to be difficult to drive from what I read. So you think these are easier to drive. Which of the two sound better for you, since you make the comparison I assume you have both?
ElsidAny of these should be good, but I don't have them. I recently tested Exynos Galaxy S7 edge with Superlux 668b and AKG K7XX. Somehow, S7 can drive K7xx easier than Superluxes. You still won't get the performance of separate Dac/Amp but I was really surprised.
