LiimaFINI had the M50s before getting these. Still use them for laptop on the go. The K7XX is a noticeable upgrade. A lot more comfortable, treble that doesn't hurt my ears after a while, a lot more detail, and a heck of a lot more soundstage. You'd be going from a headphone known for it's pretty poor soundstage (although good value in other areas) to one of the headphones known for it's large soundstage.
Any soundcard should be able to drive them. I use an O2, but before it arrived the integrated amp on my motherboard could just barely, barely drive them at almost maximum output, although it didn't drive them well by any means. Assuming the Xonar puts out more power than my motherboard's integrated sound (a really, really safe bet), you should be good. Also if you are a gamer (guessing based on sound card?) there aren't many better choices. Good soundstage is super immersive and helpful for games (so much fun with witcher 3's environments), and the slight bass bump makes them pretty fun for games too.

Witcher 3 is actually my favorite single player game!!! But I've also been pretty competitive on mp games and played a lot of fps games in the past, lately there just have not been any good fps on the market. I miss the BF3 days... Now I'm just waiting for Insurgency: Sandstorm, Cyberpunk 2077, Destiny 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Also I play a lot of Civ and Xcom.
There are options for ohm on the sound cards software like this: https://imgur.com/5Wm7ZJB (had to take the screen cap on my phone through chrome remote desktop because I'm too lazy to get up from the couch...)
So I'm pretty sure it should be able to handle it. Just wanted to know for sure because no one in the audiophile communities seem to use sound cards.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm somewhat worried that there will not be enough bass (yes I know audiophiles hate this word) for my liking becuse I mainly listen to rap, house and some trap. Very rarely I listen to rock (except rock and rap mixed together) and classical, sometimes I do. But I'm pretty sure I'm gonna take the risk this time, I want to experience the wide soundstage.

LiimaFINHaha nice. It's my favorite game as well. You'll definitely be happy with them for gaming. As I understand this stuff, you're going to want to set the gain to the lowest setting possible while still getting loud enough, but I'm no expert. Bass is pretty personal. I'm happy with them, although I listen to very little rap. They aren't going to impact and hit as hard as a closed headphone though, just because of their open design. I can "feel" the bass more on the M50s, but I still actually prefer bass on the K7xx a lot of the time. It sounds better or cleaner or more detailed or something... not sure... better though.

LiimaFINlate to the party but i just got my k7xx's and have been using m50s daily for years. For gaming it is a big difference, much more sound stage and the clarity ia such that ive taken the k7xxs off a few times wondering if something fell in my man cave when really it was an in game sound... they are that open. I find the bass a little bit forced in the low end, it works but just a note (Im no audiophile). Having a great amp is a must though, i was using a cmoybb for many years and the new SMSL m6 is just a...massive...huge difference comoaring to the cmoybb. I am very happy with these rhough, makes my music a step above all the joy I felt when getting my m50s and thinking it was as good as it gets... these are significantly better.

LMAONAISEAh man, I'm just getting around to the Witcher 3 DLC and would love to hear it through this pair. This is so tempting, but I'm afraid of the noise bleed. I share a home office with my wife and, well, her blue keyswitches probably wouldn't play nice with open backed phones. Do you know whether someone five or so feet away would hear these headphones?

David_RYes there is a pretty strong noisebleed, but my wife watches her laptop in bed about 15 feet away from my pc and she doesnt complain, she also has never woken up while listening and Ive been playing a lot of loud music late into the night since getting these headphones. With regards to hearing her blue clicking, unless you had the volume very low I dont think you would notice (since I dont hear my wifes gilmore girls show while listening). I understand your fears though!

LMAONAISEI purchased a used pair off ebay and I'm very pleased with them. My wife can't hear them at all, so no problem with noise escaping. And I like the access to ambient sounds, though I have yet to experience her clicky keyboard. Others' comments regarding how hard these phones are to drive had me worried, as I have not been able to select a HP amp. But it turns out that my onboard audio provides ample power...I rarely turn the PC volume beyond 10 out of 100. I do hope to compare it with a decent DAC some time. For now, they are a much lighter and fairly better sounding alternative to my Sennheiser Game Zeroes (which I will likely only pull out when a mic is needed). For comparison on amplification, I have the Senn GZ with 50 ohms, and the volume level at 6 is comparable to the K7xx at 10.

David_RGlad to hear you got a pair, at least now you can justify/will notice future upgrades if you do end up with a decent DAC and amp. I am very happy with my SMSL M6 + foobar ASIO + 7xx combo.
