Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

The estimated shipping date was shown at the top of the page before the drop ended. What information is it that you want? The purpose of Massdrop is to find manufacturers that will take orders for group-buys, allow people to group-buy, and it takes time for manufacturers to fulfill the orders. Believe it or not, AKG can't make 1200 K7XX's magically appear. They have to be manufactured and then shipped to Massdrop.
"What i paid for was what i believed to be a genuine bargain, and here i am being told the MSRP is basically bullshit"
A product can have any Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The intended purpose of the MSRP is simply to inform retailers of what the manufacturer recommends they sell the products for, and the actual amount is just an arbitrarily determined number just like if a kid selling lemonade chooses to sell lemonade at $0.25, $0.50, or $1 each. Manufacturers can and often will create MSRP's that allow for deceptive sale prices and/or significantly greater profit margins for themselves and/or for their retailers, but this is taken for granted in the world of commerce. What would you think if a child were to advertise lemonade at 90% off of an MSRP of $100 each? In this digital world where you have access to incredible amounts of information for researching products, you have no one to blame but yourself if you fall for deceptive high MSRP and discounts instead of looking at what matters: the actual sale price to performance ratio. And in a sentence, the K7XX are considered to be great price/performance.
"AND i have to wait for weeks/months."
Massdrop and AKG chose to allow people to get into the drop about one month before the estimated ship time. They could have chosen to allow people to get into the drop 1 day before the estimated ship time, 2 days, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, two months, five years, etc. It doesn't change the fact that it still takes the same exact amount of time and labor to manufacture, ship, and distribute this amount of goods, and that regardless of whether they announced the drop one week before estimated shipping date or one year before estimated shipping date, they would have to put the same amount of time and labor into it and have completed the progress at the same ETA of late June.
"I was just sharing the experience of my first drop."
All I am seeing is a lot of invalid complaints. You are getting a "genuine bargain", and you are getting it in a timely manner at a date which was clearly disclosed to you. Try not to be so upset about things, it can't be healthy for you.
The majority of people will only come back to the Drop's discussion page when they have a complaint, which is why most of the "my other drops were..." people are complaining. Otherwise there is no reason to return. If there was a genuin issue/complaint then Massdrop would have sorted it viar email (like they did with rattle, even though it wont/didn't affect 99% of users).
I was in on the last drop (Headphone No. 4416) and these are fantastic cans, mine arrived 2 days later due to unforseen weather problems (no fault of Massdrop or AKG). Transparent, clear, wide and ever so slightly 'fun'. Coming from closed back headset style, the reduction in bass shocked me. Instead of loud boomy bass; there is balanced, toned and well rounded sub audio. A treat for the ears. :)
I see you've joined this drop, I hope you (and others) enjoy them!
Could it be MD padding initial numbers (ethics) internal people reserving then changing their mind (what do they know that I don't) or just something normal? It was in posts and is a valid buyer's question. I can see where someone would be somewhat panicked, at least I met someone from the crew at a can show, and got a recommendation to use MD from a couple of people.
Then I've seen other comparisons with a headphone drop that was $70 cheaper, with comments on the web, basically stating they couldn't tell much difference between the two. They liked them equally. $70 dollars is a lot of money for a lot of people. I was lucky seeing a few people who posted that this drop was a fair value, so I am going ahead with it. Getting fair value isn't always easy.
Other posters, as you and I, are their customers, and it's apparent that a portion of their customer base needs a greater amount of communication. You may call it hand holding, but if MD doesn't address its customers' needs, someone else will. People vote for companies with their dollars. I for one would like to see MD stick around.
If you search this drop, someone posted that there is less communication on this drop than previous drops.
I also want you to see what my headphone drop has as far as communication. This is the second communication, in a little more than a week, on the $20 (not $200) headphone pads:
>>"We have some great news to share with you all. Everything is right on schedule, and the vendor should have all the units shipped out within the next couple of days.
Expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 6/16 or sooner if something comes up." <<
Two simple sentences addressing the present and the future.
Personally, I hope everything is ok with the team running this drop.
As for the value of the headphones, you can look at the specs and compare. However the specs don't take into account comfort, durability, limited supply, brand name, etc. that could drive up the price. From what I've heard, this is a combination of the 712 Pro, and 65th anniversary which are both well over $200.
That's all I know :) I agree with you on all your points though. It's a little uncomfortable for me how little information they have provided given the amount of people asking.
