RapskyIt's different. The M50 has a more "fun" sounding frequency response while the M220 is more of a neutralish studio monitor sound.
It's really personal preference and what you plan to use it for. I find having headphones with different characteristics refreshing. They impart certain attributes depending on the music genre.
These should scale better with a decent amp. The M50s don't benefit too much when scaling up.

RapskyI didn't like the sound or comfort of the k553 or its variants. The AKG K701 is one of the very best headphones for fps gaming due to the wide soundstage and accurate imaging. If you find a used warehouse deal on Amazon it's the best bang-for-your-buck. Although, it might not suit your musical preferences. The Massdrop K7XX has a more forgiving sound but cost more. I still think that the HD598s are the safest choice for your needs. They can often be had for $99 or less. They have great comfort, excellent for fps, (especially when paired with an old DSS for $15 off ebay or even to a lesser extent Razor's surrounded software), and have an agreeable sound signature. It's worth the extra money over these.
All that said, you could use these and be just fine. It's like trying to convince you why a burger at one fast food place is better than another - everyone has their own take on it based on personal preferences and how they determine value.
