One other point for those that hesitate on Amazon Prime, returns are usually free if they are direct from Prime.

I have some hearing problems that cause me physical pain in loud environments, so I always have one pair of 'musician' earplugs with me on keychain. And I think I own all ~5 major kinds of universal 'musician' earplugs on the market. Of them all, those are my least favorite, and are not used much those days. Thing is, you can not just insert them with your fingers, you have to use special insertion tool that allows you to really jam those in your ear canals and twist. Sound-wise, they are also nothing special, there are others that allow cleaner sound through. Their size in on the large size of medium, and users with ear canals larger than mine (medium-to-small) might find them more comfortable.
Anyway, if you do not have small ear canals and do not mind the hassle of easy-to-lose insertion tool, they can be good.
I find it a little misleading that their picture typically omits insertion tool.
On the upside, their sound filtering cartridge can be removed, and then they could be easily fitted on Etymotic ER4S IEMs, creating one more option for soft silicone double-flange tip for those picky phones. Yes, those double-flanges are more comfortable (to me) than stock Etymotic tri-flanges, although they are not nearly as deep of a fit. And those long Etymotics shafts work great as 'insertion tool'. Just tried this combination, and so far I like it.

OlekOlek, you say they use an insertion tool. But here and Amazon in listing what's in the box don't say anything about any such tool being in the package. Just checking, but are you sure that you're talking about this product?

FearlessleaderIf you go to the product page and click on "Manual" it shows instructions that involve an insertion tool. Same thing on the Pro version. Not sure if it is required

I've used similar earplugs before. Specifically the Etymotic Research ER20's and DownBeats EarPlugs. Both can be had on amazon for less than this drop ($13 and $14).
I'm not sure exactly what these provide better than the competition but I strongly recommend some for loud concerts. Once in I forget about them.

I prefer the DownBeats as they have a nice case and are less noticeable. They make a better seal in my ears where the ER20's would need adjustment and hurt after extended periods due to their longer length. Note I have large ears with small ear canals. Your results may vary. These earplugs are very similar to the DownBeats.

Has anyone used these before? I have to say I'm skeptical that specially designed earplugs are required as I've used foam disposable ones at concerts before and they made the music 10x clearer without any muffling effect.

SoupinatorI think it depends. I have this exact pair in my car for road trips (for passenger, I have some molded automotive customs for myself). When i'm doing 80 on the highway with the top down; I can hear the radio or have a conversation with the passenger without shouting; it's really convenient. (and less chance I'll miss the car next to me pulling around and passing like an idjit).
I do double duty them for concerts, but they're pretty much just more convenient and let certain frequencies in better for that.

Soupinatoryou have used the cheap foam ones and dont think they muffle the sound? jheez. i used to use the foam kind and they truly suck compared to real attenuators like these. the high-end sizzle really comes through, but without the fatigue, especially for longer listening periods. also vocal clarity is much much better with the musicsafe plugs. you can actually have a conversation in a loud club. these are wicked im gunna buy a backup pair.

How far do these stick out of your ear? Will I be able to wear a motorcycle helmet with these?

unlearnThey do not stick out much at all, I think you will be fine with the helmet. Still, if any doubts, D'Addario Pacato is safer option, since they have flat back with soft silicone flap for removal, so they effectively have zero 'sticking out'. Worst choice for you are etymotic earplugs - they are very long.

unlearnthey go in pretty deep. they have a plastic bit to help them go further. you could wear them with a helmet but it will come with the same discomfort as wearing ear buds for music. meaning its do able but definitely noticeable

Hmm. These or Etymotic ER20s... I lost my ER20s at Lolla unfortunately, but luckily it was after the festival.

HualicopterI'm giving this a try. The ER20s gets quite uncomfortable after a while and the stem is really long (can't put on helmet/headphones).

YassySassyThat's interesting. I never had comfort issues with my ER20s, but the longest I've ever worn mine is maybe 4-5 hours.
I do like the short stem though since as you said, you can't put on headphones.
