I already have two pairs of the mids and love them, and will likely join this drop, but be aware that although they're very comfortable and warm, and probably outstanding in snow, they are definitely not waterproof - after about and hour of heavy rain, even with waterproof gaiters covering the lace area, both of my pairs have wet through at the front from the top, rather than from the bottom. Nevertheless, I've never had a pair of boots this comfortable. I also have a pair of the mid mesh, which dry very quickly but which aren't as warm.

helen1Correct! these shoes are highly water resistant but after hours some water will seep through the seams. great in snow and cold conditions. Still quite breathable for a waterproof shoe

CreamytorrHaha... but seriously, my Scarpas were. They were also too small and I had the biggest size in womens that they make. The mens were too wide. :-) But the Altra mids are so much more comfy I'm happy to forego the waterproofness!

AltraRunner Oh dear. I just went to your altra website because I was pretty con fident the original info re the Neoshell said waterproof, but the mids *are no longer there at all (neither mesh nor Neoshell), nor are the Neoshell lows.* Are you discontinuing them completely, or are you bringing out a replacement model? I was concerned a while back when altra was bought and got myself an extra pair of mids then.

helen1We will be bringing out a replacement model in August and September.
The Lone Peak 4.0 mesh low launches in August The Lone Peak 4.0 Mid Mesh, Mid RSM (waterproof), and low RSM all launch in September.
Just currently clearing through the 3.0's to make room for the 4.0's!

AltraRunner4.0 i still have two unused pairs of red and grey 2.0 that I bought year ago for a bargain very unfashionable!!! they will get use on day hikes or just become a travelling pair of trainers lol
