Just got mine in. They run a little small. Would anyone be willing to trade a size 11.5 for my size 11? Mine are brand new and just wore once inside my house on carpet.
CozShesDeadI don't have a pair to trade, but I love my size 11's and would be happy to buy them from you if they are not working out and you don't find anyone to trade with.
Sizing, I have lonepeaks 3.5 size mid mesh 13,lp3 neoshell mid size 13, Olympus 3 size 13 and Timp size 12 (my first pair) and size 13. A size 12 Timp is wider than a lonepeak 3.5 or Olympus 3. However toes will hit the end. Fyi I wear a 12 in nb asics Nike timerland etc. I have wide feet. If you own lonepeaks buy same size. If your new to Altra size up. If your a hiker u want the extra toe room for down hills and foot swelling. Timps are wide. They are my favourite altras. Also my sides split on the 12 and I sewed them at a boot/key place and they have been fine since. The split due to me laying on concrete and working. They are not as robust as the LP, but they are nicer to wear.
I'm considering upping the size to 11 to play it safe. 10.5 on the Escalante is just fitting, so perhaps I should add a little buffer since the Timp's upper mesh is likely less comfy/soft than the Escalante's. Hopefully someone with lots of Altra shoes can shed some wisdom before the drop ends!
ThongsterI own a version of Altra Escalante in size US9 which fits perfectly, and I own Altra Superior 3.0 in size US9, who feels slightly smaller since they bring some sort of a stiched toe-guard, while the Escalante's upper is very stretchy. On the flats this is fine, however, every time I run down a mountain, I can feel how my toes hit the hard upper a little bit, which isn't the case in Escalante.
Be aware, that Altra Timps use the same performance last shape as Escalantes and Superiors (PFS2-M last). Technically, their foot shape is the same. Just be aware, that Timps also have a bit of rubber arround the toe area. I'd recommend sizing up half a size, if you plan to do mountain running and/or hiking in the timps.
I love these shoes. Unlike some others, I bought the same size (actually 1/2 size smaller) than I normally wear. I think this is because I've always had to buy shoes larger to fit my foot since it is quite wide and has a high instep. But these shoes fit the shape of my foot perfectly. I had also tried on the Lone Peak at the same time and did not find that same comfort; they felt like a normal (too tight) shoe. I'm considering buying this drop to have a backup pair...
