14themoneyYa know, that's the other thing that gets me...
I have a SOG with this type of lock too, i can't even remember how many years ago I bought it..... 15? 20?
I totally don't get that when I hear people talking about how hard benchmade fought for that patent while they had it, and now talk about it only expiring and becoming fair game recently?
I'm gonna have to dig that thing out and open it up to see what the difference is in the construction that allowed SOG to get away with it while Benchmade was suing no-name, overseas clones 🤔
EDIT: Nevermind, turned out to just be easier to Google Axis lock vs Arc lock lol
mycoloradoWait till you hear about the
"Testicle Festival" your mind is going to blow forsure!! And yes, it's a real thing.
But I get what your saying though 👍
I prefer they stuck to bats
I have the black scales version. VG-10 is very soft. Made 1 cut through some tuff stuff and left a big divot on the edge. Sharpened up again well enough, but am definitely not impressed.
Lately my ideal field knife is my Cold Steel Pendleton hunter or my Spyderco Salt. I haven't hurt them yet and haven't worried about it at all. I do what needs to be done with them, and yes sometimes there is a better tool for a particular job but field necessity takes precedence.
reswrightIt's like this: glow in the dark structural material barely glows or it's barely structural. Most of what I see now is 'shred CF' but the structure is mostly from the resin and the CF is shreds and curls along with colored bits, or metal leaf, or whatever. You know, kinda like Raffir. Which also does a phosphorescent model with a really nice glow... but by daylight it looks like milk stuffed with black fishnet.
To me the thing to do is either to make a composite with CF or G-10 alternating with a GITD material with a real glow to it like a good shredded fiberglass mix. That, or to take an existing scale, mill a design or a pattern into it, fill the newly milled void with liquid high glow material that doesn't need to be structure bearing, let it cure, then voila.
Tactically making your knife glow in the dark is about as sharp an idea as pinning a neon target to your head but the consumer appeal is undeniable.
Where is it being made? Given price and material, I’d guess China, and given current political climate, this seems like a deliberate omission not to state the country.
Not entirely true, but thank you for your experienced insight. I haven’t watched as closely for as long, but they definitely list country of origin for the Eric Ochs Orca as being from China. I had seen this a few other places, too, I thought, and that is why I assumed it is deliberate. Thanks to your reply, though, I will be much more careful before I sign up for anything. I’m tired of “community oriented” anything that still smacks of cover-up. Thank you!
McGruppI may be exaggerating a bit when I say "never", but it is more common than not for them to leave it off, and has been that way for as long as I've been a member here
NotVeryCashMoneyThe email I received said they would notify me if it will be delayed more that 30 days after November 27th. No excuse if they can’t ship it out more than 30 days past original delivery date when it was up for sale 6 months ago. Even with all the crap going on.
ShaquilleOatmealDrop: Hey bud sorry but your order that you reserved like 6 months ago is gonna be delayed
Everyone: Oh well do you know when they'll be shipping out?
Drop: nope, bye!
I had started a post saying that I liked everything about it except the far into the future, "We might ship it from the Netherlands in December.................of this year? I lost the post when I went looking for some information. This knife has been well received. It has good reviews. Most places well the black one for about $100. I might ignore my principles and values and get this one. I sure wish that Drop would get their excrement in an organized pile. Pardon me, but I have to go drop a load. I loaded a big drop at supper last night. All those vegggies made it a MessDrop. Jonas, I promise to lay off of you guys if you will do something ab out your horrendous shipping, and your less than total honesty about the knives that you are selling. And while I'm at it, your pictures need work. Perhaps you could pretend that you are providing information to a potential customer instead of simply trying to make things attractive in order to increases the chances of selling something. Thanx.
Got it. So it's similar to the frustration I felt in one of the buys in the fact they're not very communicative of the timelines involved in their shipping. One that's made worse because I work in logistics and deal with containers across the world and know what kind of communication is involved.
mackhomieI also saw people buying stainless spring rod stock of the right thickness and making their own. Would take a few tools up front for bending the wire, but then you could always make your own and play with spring rate based on steel thickness.
