I'm not all that knowlegable on audio equipment, but doesn't 3 watts per channel seem kind of weak?

new_blade_fanDepends on what you're using them for, and what speakers you're using them with. For computer speakers that don't get too loud, as long as the speakers are efficient they'll be fine. For a home theater, this amp won't cut it.
Remember, on sensitivity rating of speakers, that's the dB output from the speaker from 1 watt of power at 1 meter of range. So, let's say you're using a Klipsch RP-150M, it has a sensitivity of 93 dB. That means from 1 watt of power at 1 meter the speaker is producing 93 dB of sound. Which is around a lawn mower, tractor, garbage disposal, etc (http://chchearing.org/noise/common-environmental-noise-levels/).
