I agree with you that the fit on the Saint James is a bit boxy. This is the perfect sweet spot between true heritage construction from a company that has been making these for a very long time and for the true end use, as well as an updated silhouette that looks good with everyday style.

No need to size up if you want to layer, your regular size will be ok. This is a `authentic` pea coat which means it fits a bit larger so you can put a (fairly) thick pullover below. Armorlux makes high-quality wool apparels which are very durable. My grandpa still owns some he bought when in his 30s. My pullovers still look brand new even though I have those for years.
