All sold out in 48. There goes me. Can there be an additional quota?

Size 48 already sold out? How is that possible?
13 sold and already out of 42 R/L equivalent sizing is kind of surprising. Well I guess I’d be better looking to Ebay

I normally wear a 44L suit/sport coat, would size 48 in this coat be the right size or is it too large/too small? Is the fit regular or slim?
Why not in black? Black for black Friday, perhaps?
What will be the final shipping weight? I use a redirecting address to ship my purchases across the border, I’m interested in knowing whether it would be more expensive to let massdrop handle s+h or not.

That really does depend on the dimensions and weight of the package, it would be hard to say since so many products come in different sizes
sdhaliwal
Fair enough, on the website I can see a flat fee of $5 per package and I was wondering what the rate/lb is after that since the shipping cost is vague (stated as "high volume rate").
Is this the same model as the "cap sizun" which can be found at their website?
romanrdgz
That'd be correct. 3706 is the style number for this pea coat. It's their classic signature style. Hope that helps! :)
TomasV
I can see that S3706 is also available at their website. Is that the slim version of the 3706? It that's the case, that would probably fit me better
All the comments below about sizing are wrong. The number represents how many croissants per work week a man is estimated to consume, minus the number of cigarettes, multiplied by the number of mistresses. Keep in mind it's a French 3-day work week. Vive la France!
I measure out to 39" and went with the 46. Hope that helps some that are undecided. Quite excited for this! Thank you!

Aaaaqnd they are sold out of the 48's. Ah well. Thanks for trying.
Thank you
SIZING: the brand uses the French system which is cm not inches! Btw most of the world uses the metric system not the other way around. So conclusion don t look at the brand sizing
Really wish this was in black.

Feedback noted. Hopefully next time around!
I am interested in this, looking for a good quality pea coat for winter, and to look nice for weekends. Bu the sizing is bewildering. Not willing to roll the dice on the largest size to find out it will be too big. Or the next size down if I cannot button it! Pea coats only look good on a man if they fit well. (and when they fit right women love how you look) Please can someone at MD do the work of clearing this up.

This is odd. So the largest size would be right for me? I am usually a L, only straying into XL for the odd coat or shirt that cannot accomodate my shoulders. As I stated above I am hesitant to buy a pea coat that will be too large, as the whole point of a pea coat is to look sharp. There are better solutions for just being warm. EG: North Face Thermoball hoodie.

This is a European (French) company and they run smaller than American sizing, for sure. There's also a range of chest measurements each size will fit, so you can make a decision on whether you're at the end of the spectrum (tighter) or not (loose).
So size 42 ia actually for size 38?
WNovizar
Hi there! A size 42 will fit someone with a chest between 31.5 and 34.6 inches.
I'm curious if someone can elaborate on why the Small equivalent (per their website), at 42 inches, is made for a "31.5-34 inch" bust? Is it for fitting a sweater underneath? A sweater that adds 6-10 inches to your chest size seems a little extreme, no? Thanks!
bman52
Hi there bman52! The size numbers on the top of the sizing chart just refer to the size number. The true measurement you should be looking at is the bust (or chest) measurement. For example I have a chest that measures 44 inches around, then i'd go with the size 48. That's all it means. The Bust measurements just gives you a range of chest size that each size fits.
Hi I have had this coat for 5 years. It s very high quality. You re buying a genuine French product here with the quality that goes with it. Highly recommended

Is It thin, or made with thick wool? Appropiate for very cold snowy days or is It more usable during autumn?
romanrdgz
Boiled wool is generally denser, more water resistant, and warmer than normal wool yarn.
Why there is no small sizes? Like 38, 40 inches?
Thiru
Look at the size chart.... a size 42 is actually for a 31.5-34.6 bust. That seems pretty darn small to me.
lassetjus
Hi @lassetjus That's exactly correct... The size is just the number size for the garment -- the bust range is the chest measurements that this size will fit between. So if you have a chest that measures between 31.5 and 34.6 then you'd go with the size 42.
