Contrary to its name, the Orthodox from Artisan Cutlery is anything but standard. Like something out of Sweeney Todd’s barber shop, it sports a long, straight edge that offers maximum control when slicing Read More
Er......I’ve always thought a straight-edge flipper would be cool. Kinda seems like one of those things that should have been left as a “neat idea” because in practice....it’s just not a good knife.
Aesthetically it nails the “look” but there’s no part of this thing that actually works well as an EDC tool. Fun art knife for your collection? Sure. A carry option? YMMV but not for me.
Bought the Orthodox as an EDC knife, because I felt that the razor blade style would be easier to sharpen. The action is really smooth, and hasn't gotten worse over the time that I've owned it (2 or 3 months as of this review). The blade stays sharp longer than cheaper knives, like any D2 blade should.
The biggest complaint that I have is that one of the screws comes loose every once in a while, and I've been avoiding locktiting it, so at this point that ones pretty much on me anyway.
Very smooth, excellent quality in fit and finish. The D2 blade strops up to razor sharpness! I would have liked the
3.54 inch blade in D2 but missed out on it. If that came available, would jump on it in a heartbeat. Overall a sleek,
elegant, and in some ways an intimidating blade.
