Developed by Chicago-based Horween Leather Company, shell cordovan is the fibrous flat muscle (or shell) taken from the rear quarters of a horse hide. Limited in quantity, the leather goes through an extensive six-month production process that includes tanning, stuffing, shaving, and polishing. It’s regarded as one of the most durable sources of leather and is sought after for its hand-finished color treatment. Each wallet has a unique appearance that comes from the shade of each individual piece of shell cordovan.
Note: At checkout, choose black shell cordovan with black horsehide interior, garnet shell cordovan with moc interior, natural shell cordovan with moc interior, color #8 shell cordovan with black horsehide interior, or color #8 shell cordovan with reverse interior (+ $40). Quantities are limited to 125 units.
Slim enough to fit in your pocket with ease, the wallet comes with two six-card slots, two hidden card pockets, and one long bill pocket. The wallet is nicknamed Johnny the Fox, after the legendary Chicago gangster who took a round of tommy gun bullets and kept ticking. Like the mobster for which it’s named, the Ashland Leather Shell Cordovan Bifold Wallet holds up against the harshest conditions.
