I'm interested on the DAP alone purely from a collector's perspective. If someone is interested in the music collection I would probably get one if there's a good offer on the albums.
Boogie6301you would probably find more interest in Bluenote jazz elsewhere on the Internet than here on Massdrop. I believe the more popular interests mentioned here include "Ween" and "Nickelback". Check out Audiogon.com, for example. You could choose to auction it off there or set a fixed price. A percentage of your sale would to the site, but it has the target audience that you're looking for
I'm in on this drop because of the jazz collection. It will go well with all of the Dead and Company and Grateful Dead that I'm constantly listening to. Ha! I've been wanting an A&K player for some time now and this is the deal that pulled me in. All I need is a 3.5mm female to 2.5mm male TRRS adapter. Not a single earbud or headphone I have is 2.5mm.
jerladThanks for the tip. I'm based in Singapore so getting custom cables and interconnects is easy and cheap. All my iems and some headphones cables have been modded to 2.5 balanced for my Onkyo Granbeat smartphone+DAP.
jerladHey Jerlad,
The A&K player should have a 3.5mm output which should be used for single ended headphones. Due to grounding and polarity issues, you generally would not want to take a non-balanced headphone and feed it through a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter. This can damage the DAP.
You can however go from Balanced 2.5mm to single ended 3.5mm without issues.
jerladOh gotcha,
yeah then theres no issues then.
I have a balanced DAP and was under the impression that I could convert all of my headphones to balanced with a $12 adapter until I did some research and just wanted to throw that out there. :)
Runding99Oh yeah, that would be a bad idea. In fact, you can damage the DAP if you plug a SE connector into a Balanced output socket, or is it plugging a BAL connector into an SE socket or is it plugging a TRRS connector where the fourth ring is for a microphone?
All I know is you have to be careful :-) This may be why my Pono Player uses two separate TRS outputs together for balanced output :-)
