I have the 2000Z here for review. I won't be able to get it out in time for this but they are certainly worth considering with this price drop. .. .Get it.. DROP.
They do need some brave bending to fit right and that attached wire... FFFFFF
You dare rush the Zeos???!!! I hereby slap your comment... and back slap it again!!! You are no music lover, but a hussler !! Slap!!! Again… wisdom is synonymous to time, existentialist moments... to become one with the headphone… is everything!!!!! Slap!!! Again!!!!
I don't understand why Audio Technica's most expensive headphones all have attached cables. I would be interested in a massdrop collaboration that fixes this issue and drops the price
NikeLol since when is an old design a bad thing?, Sennheiser, Denon... ect.. In my opinion the race to look "different and new" is in the Marley catagory of mediocre headphones at rip-off prices.
I have the A1000Z and my advice is if you are a weeaboo join the drop without giving it a second thought. Female vocals sound incresible on these.
The only real downside is cables aren't detachable
I don't own the AD2000X so can't say, it's quite different from the AD2000 from what I've seen.
I did own an AD900X previously, but wasn't really impressed with it. It wasn't bad, but it didn't have any of the magic the higher end series have.
As far as driving them go, yea, I pretty much use the liquid carbon X, a Fiio K5, or straight out of a DAP, so can't really comment on sound out of a laptop or phone.
EinTheVarianceWell you could always give a try. The AD500X is not bad with the Q1. After trying something like Stax L700 is hard to go back to lower end cans
PoopheadThese headphones are serviceable (just pop the pads and unscrew a few screws) and cable can be easily replaced in case of damage. But the cable on A2000z won't break so easily - take my word for this (I have them) + it's a very good quality cable. Permanently attached cable is not really a deal breaker especially when good. I'd be more worried for the A2DC connectors that they put on the new models - look quite fragile to me.
hinotori2772I agree. The cables are definitely sturdy and I wouldn't worry about them going bad through regular use. However, if you have pets around the house, then replaceable cable would be advantageous. My cat chewed up my Audeze cable and it was an expensive lesson! Now I tuck away my headphones whenever they aren't in use.
Bah. If only these had detachable cables.
I'd rather not have to crack $450 cans open to modify them for balanced operation.
If drop is thinking of a new can crossover, either of these models with detachable cables and a different paint-job would be awesome.
I just have zero interest in doing such. I prefer my cans to have sockets so I can swap cable. I'm much more likely to wait for AT to rev bump their lower priced cans, or to pony up for their ATH-AWAS or ATH-AWKT.
FayneYep, cutting the connector does only solve half the problem but these stock cable should be in nice quality, I have been using my AD2000X for about 2 years and I don't know how many times I yanked the cables hard, it's still holding up well today. So I wouldn't be so worried.
To anyone that joined this drop. I just finished filming my review of the 2000Z and I highly recommend grabbing a set of the Dekoni TH900 angled lambskin pads and putting them on to help lift the bass, improve the comfort and if you twist the widest part towards the top fix the gapping that the default headband shape leaves.
ZeosPanteraI look forward to your review of the Ath a2000z. It was partially based on your review of the ath a1000z that I took a chance. So Thank you.

if you feel that the HD6XX and R70x are similar enough and you prefer the HD6XX, sure. I use the A1000Z at work, so I can recommend it for that purpose certainly.
