Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

The Monoprice lollipop microphone and Samson VR88 are definitely more higher end and cost significantly more than this microphone. More importantly, they also serve different purposes.
The AT2020 captures sounds in a cardoid pattern (frontal focus). The Monoprice microphone has the ability to switch between capturing sound in three different sound pattern directions which results in overall different sounds - cardioid for a frontal focus, Figure 8 for a focus on the front and the back, or Omni to pick up audio from all directions
The Samson VR88 is a ribbon microphone. It has a figure 8 pick up pattern. Ribbon microphones have a much more vintage sound and were invented with strong magnetic fields in order to flatten out high frequencies.
The Samson G Track captures a super cardoid sound pattern (accepts a little more sound from a 180-degree field, but rejects more from each side). The G track also an audio interface / mixer built in and is usb powered vs. XLR.
So, to answer your question, the AT2020 is a fantastic cardoid pattern microphone for having a frontal focus sound. It is very well regarded in terms of reviews and at this pricepoint, is a great entry level microphone for home studios for people looking for something a bit more sophisticated.
The other microphones are great and serve different purposes. Pro Audio is a brand new community on Massdrop and I think we are just going to have give people a bit of time to figure out what kind of mic they need and then you will see an uptick in sales :)
Hope that helps! Here is a microphone buying guide that can give you a bit more info: http://thehub.musiciansfriend.com/audio-recording-buying-guides/buying-guide-microphones
Samson and the others are generally seen as more prosumer-leaning brands as they focus their design on adding multiple features to give you more 'bang-for-the-buck'. Their products are perfectly usable, but in a pro-audio setting where reliability is crucial, I'd spring for AT, Shure etc. in a heartbeat.
