The Bestech 1707 Dolphin is aptly named. When closed, the flipper looks like a dorsal fin poking out as a dolphin charges forward through the water Read More
Thanks guys.. I googled it a while back when I saw one of the first launches and just wanted I clarify. At that time I couldn't find any information. I don't think I'm into collecting Chinese knives :/
Not to say you are wrong in how China is powering their economy but I do not think keeping the average worker poor is a goal. In the last few decades, the buying power of a Chinese worker has greatly improved while the US has remained stagnant at best.
The global economy has enabled us to buy great toys to distract from our inability to buy a house or afford health care.
HokieengineerYes, I think we have some details about timing of drops getting lost in translation, we'll speak to the vendor and update the description for this drop - sorry about that.
Unequivocally, no. Sorry if it feels that way, that means we have some work to do. I hope you will find that our "community first" philosophy rings true in the majority of interactions on the site moving forward.
We believed this was an exclusive because that's what the vendor told us, and it's possible we just didn't get our sample through ordering, shipping, photo, copy, review, and launch fast enough to be the case. Still, we'd expect better coordination on something like that, so we'll be updating the page and clarifying with the vendor for next time.
bubahI actually bought one of their knives off Blade HQ a month or so ago. I guess they've been doing OEM work for 10 years or so and just started pouring out their own designs. Their mini-flipper frame lock is really nice.
awkExactly what I was looking for was one of the sprints. The blue one and gold one can be bought at white mountain right now for a buck fifty + a few quid with the discount code so what are we doing here Drop?
I received mine today. It's very cool.
The lines look great. I like the subtle color wash on the scales, as well.
It feels great in the hand. Has nice scooped out contouring on select parts of the scales that let your fingers rest into the handle very nicely.
My blade wasn't dull, but wasn't as sharp as I would expect from a knife of this quality. Nothing I can't easily remedy, but something to note.
Also, my lockup was very early. Locks up on barely half the width of the lock bar. I'm sure not all the samples out there will lock up this early, but mine did. At least it releases smoothly and doesn't stick.
Overall, I'm very happy with it upon initial handling.
elneroyes it does. ceramic bearing i believe. it's generally safe to assume that this type of knife(or any high quality Chinese manufactured framelock flipper) usually comes will bearing pivot.
This looks like a nice knife, and S35VN is a fine steel, but calling it 'the best commercial steel on the market' in a world where LC200N, M390, Elmax, etc. exist seems like a stretch.
Just got mine and I have to say that it is a very well made knife. I'm extremely impressed with the detent, the ball-bearing action, the milling on the handle scales, and the high-low anodization. The features you get on this knife and the quality match that of a much more expensive knife. Credit to Bestech. And to top it off, they sent it out hair-shaving sharp, which I really appreciate. Well done.
