While many headphones make you choose between an open- and closed-back construction, the Beyerdynamic DT880 Pro splits the difference with a semi-open design that allows for increased airflow and a wider soundstage. It brings full depth and excitement to the entire range, with a smooth, extended treble; a transparent, detailed midrange; and a punchy, layered bass Read More
Why not do a collab with Beyer so you can offer a set of MD x Beyer 880s that address the public's concerns (i.e. detachable cord, adjusted dynamics, upgraded pads, etc)?
Beyer, for the love of god, make the cable removable, it's a must have feature for some of us, it gives me an upgrade path, sound wise debatable for sure, but it also allows me to change the aesthetic and the length of the cable, i personally hate having too much or too little cord on my headphones so i tend to get them to my listening station where they are going to be used and then figure out which cable length would be best for that spot, my work desk is different than my home office deck, my office desk is different from my gaming area, my gaming area is different than my living room where i have most of my audio equipment.....it also gives me the ability to put the type of cable i want on there, coiled or straight......really a detachable cable makes your product customizable and of course the thing you guys hear all of the time, teh cable is often the part that becomes damaged, nothing worse than accidently rolling over the cable of your $220 headphones with your chair (because the cable is too long) and making them fit for the garbage...
so please, please pretty pretty please with spritzkuchen on top, can we please have a detachable cable on headphones in this price range from you? dt770,880,990 ect.
i'd be willing to pay 10's of dollars more as well, lol.
i get why you went the way you did, but the cable is a big enough deal to me as where i would take the sacrifices that come with having those sort of connections...maybe even just give us the option....
hell, can i make that as a massdrop request? any chance you guys can get a limited run of these with detachable cables?
I've reached the point where i have most of the headphones that i want right now but have kept putting these off because of the cable...it's literally the only reason why i don't own beyers yet.
TheIzzardKingAnd this is the reason I won't buy a whole boatload of cans. Can't replace the cord, not worth my time. I'm sure as heck not going to crack open expensive cans just to add a socket or two. Should come with them by default.
Gets really silly when you see this on $500-1000 cans. Makes me want to find the engineer who designed them like that and smack him/her upside the head repeatedly until they admit their idiocy.
What would be a good Desktop DAC/Amp Combo to use along with these? I know very little about DACs and Amps, so I'd love to hear some suggestions! I'm from Australia and looking at under about $300. I also enjoy Heavy Music, like Bassy/Complex Electronic and Electronic. Thoughts? Thanks!
Thanks J, I have (2) FX AUDIO Headphone amps I bought here but don't have anyway I know of hooking them into two different Preamps. My dumb @#&, my problem hoping someone smarter than me can help....lol
Just FYI, a similar product (black DT 880 Premium 600 ohm + hard case) is available at Amazon for $179 (normally $199). I had my eye on the 600 ohm for a while and haven't decided yet. The 250 ohm premium version is even cheaper but I prefer the 600 ohm as my amp has enough juice for it anyway.
AudioJetI have the DT 770 80 ohm. It's my go to office/closed back headphone. Its not as detailed as the HD 600 but digs deeper and does not have bloated mid bass of HD 6XX.
They seriously need to consider making the headphone cable detachable. Stop soldering it Beyerdynamic! I loved the DT 880s! They were one of my favorite headphones but had problems losing sound on one channel after a while and had to send them in for repairs. Cables go bad or get damaged. It happens all the time. Figure this out already! So many other companies already have.
It's the main reason why I'm holding back from getting this or most of the Beyerdynamic headphones.
YoWutSupI agree. The non-detachable cable is the single reason I've written off the Beyerdynamic Pro line. A soldered cable is almost exclusively the first thing to fail on a pair of headphones that has it. I ended up buying the Sennheiser HD 6XXs on here, and I also grabbed a pair of Monolith M1060s from Monoprice. I'm actually amazed that the soldered cable on my 7-year-old (gen 1) ATH-M50s is still fine.
Update: It's the Premium Special Edition that are the most comfortable. Those are the ones that Massdrop should drop.
Update 2: People on Amazon seem to like the Pro better, so maybe the Premium Special Edition is too loose. Feel free to comment.
That is quite true, it all falls into what the person's ears are attached too... we all perceive sound differently, especially when it comes to being an "audiophile" of sound.
Whoa I got this from a guy who modded for dual sided cable and sold it wayyy back, didnt think i would find the product page here. Too bad its hard to find individual parts for the MANUFAKTUR outside of the EU, the leather headband is impossible to find.
