Is there a difference between this and the "Beyerdynamic DT 990 EDITION 600 Ohm"? Because those can be bought new for around 200$...?

mle86Yes. This question gets asked a lot. Also I don't think the Pros come in 600 ohms. Premium vs pro the materials used in construction are different. The drivers are the same. However, clamping force is different and to some this changes the sound signature. People say that the pros are more clampy than the premiums, and the premiums feel much more comfortable. I'm not sure about this part, but I think the pros have a heavy coiled cable, while the premiums have a straight cable. Either way it doesn't detach. I would have jumped on this drop but I got the 880/600 manufaktuar. If this was the 990/600 all black I might have also.

mle86The "Edition" is the so-called Premium (Beyerdynamic says there has never been a "Premium" model but it gets listed as such on many websites). I doubt it is the "Edition" you are seeing for $200, but rather the Pro models, which are different. See this FAQ: http://support.beyerdynamic.com/hc/en-us/sections/200272172-DT-770-edition-DT-880-edition-and-DT-990-edition

I just checked the local electronics chain, here in Switzerland: https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/beyerdynamic-dt-990-edition-600-ohm-over-ear-silver-headphones-headsets-3497010 Looks like the right one to me (CHF:USD is currently 1:1). Anyway, I'm not going to buy these, as I already own the T90. Just wanted to point this out...
