Would love to hear from a few more people who got in on the last drop, if any happen to be reading these comments? I don't recall how many sold last time, but so far 3 have reported issues with rust.....any other current owners want to report that theirs HAVEN'T rusted?

Kaviklooks like the black oxide is rusting on mine. the actual visible steel parts haven't rusted but i can wipe off rust off the black oxide every time i run them through the diswasher.

scoopbbSomeone here posted text from the manufacturer's website saying they're only dishwasher safe if you have no chlorine in your water or lemon scented soap 😒

kstokleyThank you! Never know who to tag.... Would be nice if there were some sort of key on each drop for technical questions or MD contacts of who's involved in each category/drop
Edit: may want to update the last line of the description too, in case people don't scroll to the specs

KavikThat's a bit ridiculous. You can't say "dishwasher safe" and then preclude chlorine treated water. Nearly every municipal drinking water system in the US uses chlorine to disinfect and the rest use chloramine which I doubt makes much difference for this issue.
Still, we've been lucky with our set so far and no noticible rust. If we end up having to start hand washing, however, I'm going to be dissapointed. We bought this to be our daily use flatware.

WatterI agree it's a bit silly to make a "partially safe" claim... But at least it's better then the original just "dishwasher safe" we had in the MD description, with no qualifiers.
Unfortunately for me, all my dishes get hand washed anyway lol Tiny apartment kitchen

KavikI have been using them for the past few weeks and havent' had any problems with rust. Hand washing them and drying with a tea towel.

kstokleyDear All,I am the owner of Black Forge knives/cutlery,the rust problem ON Handle Parts is due to that black Oxide .A bad or cheap chemical used in oxide process,we got done this oxidation process from a workshop,I mean that we don't had this in our factory facility. But yet we are responsible.we could not figure this out very soon,it took a bit time for us to catch the problem. There's nothing bad with the stainless steel material used in this flatware,we offer a laboratory test on the material on my expense. This is also unfortunate to me that we lost some business opportunity with Drop. However if we get an opportunity ,we compensate the people which flatware get rusted and which they have reported.

blackforgeknivesHi, To be honest, in the almost 2 years that I've owned these now, I've not used them very much. The rust is part of the issue, though I can confirm it only ever happens on the black part of the handles, mainly on the laser engraved logo and near the transition between the black and the stainless. Never had any rust issues on the polished surfaces. My bigger issue with them has been the ergonomics. The slants cut in the end of the handles are quite sharp, if you hold it in any way that presses the end into your palm. And while the curve of the handle feels quite comfortable in some positions, it can make for a somewhat awkward angle when bringing the food to your mouth. Lastly, the shape of the heads of the spoons feels very awkward in the mouth, in my opinion. I still LOVE the looks, and maybe some day I'll get around to grinding down the sharp ends and giving them another try....but unfortunately, for now, they just look pretty in the drawer, and are only used on the rare occasion

KavikHi,Thank you for your honest review, yes,As we said and people reported rust problem onto the black handles parts,Nothing bad onto polished areas,.i respect your thoughts and opinions onto our flatware design, and we do hope we can improve.I would love to see one day your grinding ability to get more rounded shapes.
