well I got one of these from here and the blackrock rep told me the had WOULD NOT ride up on my head. I got correct size as he told me to get based on my measurements. I have long hair , he said he did as well . within just a few minutes this thing is up above my ears looking like a cone head. not happy about this AT ALL. I think they should send me one size larger and they eat the cost, but I'm sure that will never happen. I'd even be willing to send this one back as I have only worn it out of the house like 3 times as its embarrassing to walk around like some cone head that has uncovered cold ears. if you see this blackrock rep hit me up.
Stone_MaNStone_Man - Your hat is too small. I tell all my customers that if for any reason they have an issue to email us and we will take care of you. Send an email to support@blackrockgear.com and you'll get me. Not every head is shaped the same despite measurements which is why we make numerous sizes. There is overlap between each size and from one to the next you get more depth and volume. With the right size hat it will sit nice and deep on your head and give you full ear coverage.
So measure your noggin: Using a fabric tape measure or shoelace, wrap it across your brow where you'd like it to sit. Go above your ears and around the back of your head. Pull it snug but not tight and get me a measurement to within a quarter of an inch. Email that to support@blackrockgear.com so we can get you into a hat that fits. A hat that doesn't fit makes for an unhappy head :(
We want all happy heads here at BRG :) Evan

BlackRock23 1/2" , this is actually on the first page of this discussion :) if I run the tape to cross over my ear and down to the hair tie in back its 24" . based on what you said on the first page I will assume you sent me a large.
it starts to rise up when I turn my head side to side and it rises up fast and far if I look up, as in completely above my ears in a second.
my assumption is its due to the hair tie. as when i pull it down to cover my ears the back is sort of on the hair tie, if that makes sense. just looking at your posted photo of the guy on description page shows it well that it will be nearly covering a hair tie. for more detail hair tie is most always "just" above the neck line of my hair. hope this all makes sense.
I like the warmth of the hat but since it raises above my ears so fast it simply has not been used. have not even sweat in the thing, if i can't keep my ears warm with it just going shopping I certainly have never used it on the trail. so it just sits in a gear drawer, all lonely.
here is an idea for you, make a version of the hat that dips down on the sides to cover ears. then even if the hat rides up your ears will still be covered.
Stone_MaNStone_Man - The beanies design is a full coverage beanie meant to cover your ears fully. The hat you've got for you is too small. I don't know what size you've got, but 23.5-24 is almost dead center to the upper range of a large. You may need an XL or you may just need a slightly bigger large. We can accommodate you with a custom size if needed to get you one that fits. Email me at support@blackrockgear.com so I can send you our address for an exchange in sizes.
