The upgrade possibility makes this Blue Box thing an interesting concept; however, I am hesitant for a couple reasons.
a) I have 60 % chance of getting only an FRN Delica for $74. I can buy an FRN Delica any time for that price (or even a bit less), plus I get to choose the color I want. It's not super compelling like some of the other drops that offer reduced prices.
b) One of the "upgrades" is actually huge downgrade IMO. The black/combo edge Delica is awful. I hate the black coating, the shorter hollow grind, and the serrations. I would be upset if I payed $74 and got the black/combo edge version. And, of course, the black/combo edge version is one of the more likely "upgrades".
Anyone else feeling intrigued but let down at the same time?

I hear you on that... legit drop if they remove the combo edge. It's like a whammy. Though I also don't like the earth brown handled one either.

CoolBreeze135I completely agree about the black combo delica, I just want to point out that the idea behind these blue boxes isn't to get you a better deal on the base, but to give you the opportunity to get an upgraded knife and maybe few more perks, the only bad thing in the concept imo is that u not always want to buy that exact knife in that exact moment, it just strikes you and u suddenly have to decide if you want to try your luck.

I can't believe Spydergreed is charging $75 for a Delica. FRN and VG-10. Not worth it when you see what you get for less from other makers.

Seriously? all these unlocks and all i got was the standard blade? what a joke. last time I'll participate in any of these. waiting a month and paying the same price for a knife i could have gotten in a week is ridiculous.

It was a waste of time, energy, and money... You got the knife you paid for at the same price you would pay elsewhere. No extra money spent. You spent the same energy as if you would have bought it elsewhere... And Time? Sure, the shipping takes longer than say if you had 2 day shipping from Amazon. Did your life come to a standstill though in anticipation of this shipment though? Was this shipment THAT important to you that your life was not complete until it got to you? If your expectation was a guaranteed upgraded item or bonus items, you are correct, you should not have joined the drop. I suggest you stay away from lotteries, casinos, or even bake sale raffles because you will end up disappointed again when you don't win. I'll leave it be though. You are not happy, and will not be happy. I will not waste any more of your time or energy since it is apparently in an incredibly limited supply on your part.

AdynosGod what are you the Salesforce for massdrop all the guys saying is that it's a waste of time and no added value from his experience and I don't disagree a month is a long time to wait and sometimes you pay more than you can find elsewhere so yeah it's his opinion but no need to get so aggressive and offensive about it. I am not putting massdrop down personally I use massdrop and yes I know it's going to take awhile to finally get to me but it's like anything else if you search around enough you can find some good deals. So even though I may not agree with somebody I don't go getting all crazy and and bent out of shape I think you should try the same it's an open forum for a reason just saying.

Very good. I know recently knives were not being shipped outside of U.S. by Massdrop and many people were not happy about it. Glad you all are getting great deals on knives through Massdrop now.

So the price seems higher than other retailers, and the "upgrades" don't all seem that great which means you could end up with a knife you may not like more than the one you ordered. How about making an option when purchasing if you'd like to partake in the random "upgrade" that way you don't have to worry about getting something you don't want. And why no Massdrop exclusive Spyderco?
