Soooo a friend got his massdrop via international shipping... somebody needs to go back to school... Massdrop listed the msrp for customs...
How is massdrop going to make up for the extra on taxes?

vilePossumThat friend would be me. Some idiot listed the MSRP on the customs forms instead of the actual price paid. This means I had to pay an extra €15 or so in VAT on arrival. Making the buy go from a great deal to pretty much the price I'd have gotten it for anywhere else.

I reached out about this issue, and I was advised that we do need to mark the correct worth of the item on the package, rather than the price paid. We did put a disclaimer about this under the "Shipping" section on the drop page, but in case you missed it here it is again:

This is the value of a Native LW in S110V at most US online retailers: $113.97
This is the price the price listed in the Spyderco Catalog and on my customs declaration by Massdrop: $189.95
I wouldn't be complaining if it was MAP. because that would still have been a good deal even when paying the extra taxes compared to the original price of the drop of 100.99. It wouldn't have been a huge difference and would not have pushed me over the import tax threshold.
btw, for the standard S35VN FRN/LW these are the prices:
$86.37 MAP $144.95 MSRP
