Product Description
Frustrated by the number of umbrellas that end up in landfills, the folks behind New Zealand–based Blunt set out on a mission: to make an umbrella that actually works—one that won’t break in a storm, when you need it most. The result? Read More

Too bad Blunt CS has not responded to people's concerns regarding the utter lack of customer service. Phone calls should be answered by a human being and not dispatched to voice mail. Someone at MD needs to address their lack of attention. I purchased an extra large Blunt last month and so far so good but if I needed to address a problem with my Blunt and I never received a call back I'd be pissed and take it to social media. You can't ignore people anymore or you'll be exposed as a bottom feeder.

rayce444Thanks for posting this. Customer service is important on premium priced items. I'll stick with what I have.
YirgVery interesting. Thanks for the link. I'm always leery about products on Amazon being authentic (Amazon is LOADED with fakes.) But it sounds like these may be authentic. I was hoping Blunt was more durable, but at this point I think I will stick to my $5 Home Depot umbrella (at least when it breaks I won't be out much.)

Johnny_wishboneI since bought an Athletico 62 umbrella from Amazon and it's great. Robust, big and resistant to wind. Unfortunately there's not a whole lot of rain where I live (Israel), but in the few times I used it I was very impressed.

Why is an umbrella a "men's accessory"?

So what is this "tile" that this drop comes without? It's not in the description or discussed here.

Ah. I see. I'm somewhat aware of the Tile, but never saw a need for it figuring that if I couldn't keep track of my keys, wallet, whatever, on my own an app wasn't going to help. Thanks for the explanation. I should have visited the Blunt site.

j.w.wimpyFYI - I found the small Tile pocket. It's a very small cut out that is bookended by stitching on one of the ends of the ends of the struts. There was a small card in it that said put your Tile here, essentially. It's not marked or labelled on my umbrella. Just take a look at the fabric at each point.

Hi All - We apologize for the delay in shipment and lack of communication. We have been in contact with our warehouse and learned the units had arrived but were mislabeled. We are reviewing the shipment now to ensure everything is as it should be and anticipate these starting to ship out towards the middle of next week once the QC is finished. Appreciate your patience and apologies for the inconvenience. Thank you!

Why can't the emails that you guys send to the people that joined the drop just be automatically put into the discussion from someone called 'MDStatUpdateBot' or something? It wouldn't be too difficult to put that into some code when you're sending the mass update email to us.
In your statement from http://dro.ps/updates, it had mentioned that you guys wanted to " retain Discussion style updates while increasing visibility and responsiveness". I'm sorry, but I don't see the increasing visibility or responsiveness besides the emails that we get. But on the other side, we lose the visibility and responsiveness that we would've actually received during the time that we would be accessing your website. If I'm browsing Massdrop already, I'm gonna go to my previous transactions, find the one I'm looking for, go to that page, and check that page for updates. I believe that's what most people would do. I'm already on your website, why NOT have the information that I need available ON your website? I don't want to go and have to sift through email just to read that the product has been delayed. Going that route, you'll get a lot more irritated customers than if you just posted it on the drop page. Heck, you could totally make a page that just shows the current status of each drop (eg- Blunt Class Umbrella - Delayed until Sept 28-30 (unexpected delays) like how some sites have a page that gives you a list of all the servers that are up or down.
I'm not trying to bash you guys, MD, but clearly your customers feel like the best place to find information about shipping updates would actually be on *drum roll* your website. Not an email that could potentially be pushed down from the spam, missed, or accidentally deleted.
I believe this is the biggest factor that causes customers to say they've had bad experience. We, as customers, expect information to be 'here' and not 'there' yet MD hasn't listened to their customers complaints for...how long ago did you guys implement that new "email-only" strategy? Back in January? So for 9 months, people have complained or asked: "any update yet?". But MD insists their 'email-only' strategy is the most effective in bringing "Discussion style updates while increasing visibility and responsiveness" When customers have brought up the same issue up repeatedly for months..and nothing has been done about it or changed...
...I hope your MD team has some good resolutions this upcoming New Years and some better ideas...since the customer's 'visibility' in these discussions certainly hasn't led to any 'responsiveness' from you guys.

pordssam89On the Planck drop people were upset they weren't getting emails and here they're upset about no discussion posts...

BlueCrownedWhy not both? I can't imagine it being too difficult to implement. Don't get me wrong, I understand that Massdrop has grown tremendously since they've started. I'm simply curious why they can't have emails and have responses in the discussions. Especially when they're having vendor issues after having an estimated ship date listed prior to the end of the drop.

Come on MD, if you miss ship dates you need to acknowledge it right away. If it appears to the community like you don't care (which, as I'm sure you're aware, is a popular complaint these days), it essentially doesn't matter if you actually do or not. That's the message you send. Keeping communication open shouldn't be all that difficult these days, hire more people if you can't keep up with orders.

nitrobackflipMD..it doesn't take any time at all to just say something like 'hey guys, having some shipping issues with our vendors which we're working on as I'm typing this. sorry for the inconvenience. I will let you guys know as soon as I get an update!'
And if you really wanted to be lazy, you can copy that statement of mine to use. I'm okay with communicating my feelings about it..unlike some compan-people.
Given the very high price + shipping for an umbrella I'd have to wait a month to even use. The horrible reviews are just the nail in the coffin.

CalaverasgrandeWhich horrible reviews? Everyone seems to be generally positive about this umbrella from what I've seen. I was kinda considering going in for this so I'd love to know if there are some negative perspectives I'm missing.

BLUNT™ umbrellas are manufactured near Xiamen in China. As usual, when MD doesn't mention where it's made, it's almost always China.
