Have a different brand, got from BBB. Bodum is a very good company, as have 4 of their French Presses (overkill, I know). These frothers are tippy, and broke one already and replaced it. Not sure if could use much larger french presses partially filled with milk as mentioned. Interesting idea, as holes are a similar size. My frother has two plastic ends with holes, likely to further stir and froth the milk. Also have a spinner frother. BBB manager and I have thought the spinners worked better, and local BBB now does not carry the plunger frothers anymore. Am not sure which plunger or spinner is better now, as agree performance of both is inconsistent, so still mainly use half and half much more than using the frothers. Believe what may be happening is milk has to be cold and so first use of either type of frother works well, but if refill same container then it does not work well. Has not been clear that type of milk matters. So perhaps the frothing process in both cases heats up the container enough or changes the slippery sides that it does not work well that second time. Have not tried two different cups for spinner type which would be interesting test. Overall recommend these as the froth is still better tasting and enjoyable than half and half. But the inconsistency is frustrating and so as stated I still use half and half much more.

Err... this is perplexing find. I own a Bodum Chambord French Press that is identical to the Bodum Chambord Milk Frother. See below.
The only thing that could be possibly be different between the two is the plunger, which is obscured in these photos. The french press plunger in my unit - the part doing the pressing - is metal with mesh screening to separate the coffee grounds from the drinkable coffee. I assume the plunger on this Milk Frother is similar in construction, or maybe also plastic.
In any case, this seems like a wasted purchase for anyone who already owns a french press. Just rinse the coffee grounds out of the french press, pour in some milk, and work the plunger. Boom - frothy milk. yay. No need for two devices. And for those who don't already own a french press - doesn't it make more sense to own a french press instead of this?

user73The plunger seems to be pretty much the same as the french press in other photos. Regardless, it's still a pain to froth and I've found it not worth the effort since the consistency is never quite that good.
