I have the glow in the dark one. It's a good box opener.

At least its blade isn't as thick as a Ka-Bar's. It irks me when a smaller blade won't cut efficiently without serious regrinding. I bought a cheap vintage barlow with such a thin grind that I don't think there's usually a good reason for the average modern folder not to slice like a, well, knife. Interestingly, I have a 'California legal' Boker auto whose blade is not super thin yet it slices quite well; so the edge bevel has a lot to do with it, I assume.

LeoangerJust a few points (there are many) thickness of the blade just above the edge, the angle of the edge itself (ideally less than 20°). Blade stock thickness too but this is also related to height of the blade; eg 3mm thick flat grind on a blade 1.5" high is going to be a good slicer whereas 3mm flat grind on a .5" high blade isn't. Hollow grind is to going to cut better than flat grind but may not be the better slicer. It seems that the more simple something appears, eg a knife, the more complex it actually is.

KizerYeah, it gets a bit complex when you start with thicker blade stock. I was impressed with Boker's execution on my mini auto. In general, though, companies would be hard pressed to go horribly wrong if they started with thin stock. But then the blades would appear 'cheap' and heat treatment would be trickier to minimize breakage or bending. The blade on this Boker seems to be a good compromise - thin but not 'too' thin; and if the edge grind is good it should be a great little slicer.

I carry a Spyderco Dragonfly 2 so I appreciate a well designed small knife. In an office environment you can take it out and not get the "Oh my god, you carry a KNIFE!" reaction. This one strikes me as so small, the utility is compromised, while having no real advantage as a gentlemen's carry. Pull this out and the reaction probably changes to "Oh my god, you carry a TINY SILLY USELESS KNIFE!". And I can't imagine trying to open this one-handed using the thumb stud. I think this crosses the line into novelty item.

SpinyNormanI use a small paracord lanyard on small knives - it effectively adds length to the handle.

KizerGood idea about the lanyard. Dragonfly can be used effectively without it, but I can see it improving the ergonomics. But this knife with a lanyard would still be a slightly better handling 1" blade. I just can't see the appeal. It's not really any less obtrusive or easier to carry than something like the Dragonfly, and a heck of a lot less useful. In a pinch I can use the Dragonfly to slice tomatoes at the (pre-Covid) office for sandwiches, it would be a mess with this blade. Personally, I would always opt to spend the extra money for a Dragonfly or something like it. If you could take it to the airport w/o getting it confiscated, then maybe, but I'm sure they'd take this away too.

I sprung for one (yes, I'm one of the reprobates who still gives money to Drop). The handle has an aesthetically displeasing look to it, but I'm thinking lil fixed blade mod. If it turns out to be a very nice knife despite its looks, I'll give it to someone.
