I have an Aluminum KeyBar and a Titanium Keysmart. The Keysmart is a toy compared to the Key-Bar far inferior in function IMO. I have had mine for two years and it gets used. Its my EDC. My beef with mine is I ordered the custom painted alum version, the paint started to strip almost immediately

. As the copper wasn't coming up and I couldn't hold out. Now thinking about the copper tho there would be weight issues I bet it would visually hold up better as mine is far too tattered. The talk of the screws coming undone has never been my experience in 2 years of heavy use. Regardless my Keysmart sits used for only a couple of weeks in a drawer unused and luv the Key-Bar just not how it looks.
JOYCEfromNSThank you for purchasing a KeyBar! We apologize for the peeling paint. Please email info@keybar.us and we will take care of your KeyBar for you.
i've owned one of these I purchased directly through the site for a couple years.
My major issue with it is that it doesn't matter if you even use red loctite, you're going to be going to open your door at some point, and the keybar is going to blow apart in your hand, keys and washers everywhere. That screw just will not stay in indefinitely.
Other than that, it's been a good experience for me.
PigmonkeYThis is the opposite of what I hear from someone else above your comment that has only had it for a few months... Now I'm torn, but from the @KeyBarCrew comments, it sounds like that's not the way it's supposed to work and yours may have a defect.
shard_incDude.
I also used to hate that smell.
After a few months of carrying all kinds of things made out of copper, I can say I wouldn't feel normal if my hands didn't have that dank nasty smell.
At least I wash my hands after the bathroom. So there's that. :D
The brass retails for 60$ 10$ off isn't really a huge bargain not to mention you have to wait 2-4wks to get it. MassDrop is getting to be less and less of a good source for bargains. MD listing this for 80$ MSRP is just hilarious, literally laughable.
There has been an increase in price in the last 12Wks, not sure "why" that has happened but at the time of my writing this it was 60$. I purchased on from the retail store for 72$ with an added design.
If I didn't already have one, I'd jump on this. I still might so I can have a spare. After about a year of use, plenty of drops and scrapes, and a few polishes, the copper keybar is holding up fantastically
MrBeanTSA might look at it but it's not banned unless it has a blade. People carry keys and hefty all-metal watches on board all the time. Any huge chunk of metal will show up on an x-ray but that doesn't mean you can't bring it on to the plane.
I got this at full retail ($80) and I'd still buy it at that price. The addons are a little much (bottle opener + carabiner = $17) but still I've had a great experience with the copper option. If you're on the fence, go ahead and get one with this internet shitlords blessing.
mrochaWow, that's really nice to hear... I am definitely considering getting one. I've just been burned a few times, already... Hopefully this is a serious case of "you get what you pay for" and $50+ for a key organizer does it's ONE JOB really well.
Hey, sorry for the late response. I don't check this website much. I currently just grabbed Black Diamond carabiners. They are a professional climbing company. I have my keys in a regular keyring. The problem is that this setup is noisy as hell but I sacrificed that for durability and the peace of mind that I won't ever lose my keys.
HouseThanks for responding.
That's what I'm looking for but less cumbersome I think.
MassDrop has one but I'm waiting to see a response on something.
Take care.
