If these had used screws rather than pins, I would have crawled through broken glass to buy one. As is, I think I'd have a hard time finding someone to cut the key. On top of that it also leaves me unable to fix it if anything ever causes it to fall apart.
I might be able to pop the pins in/out with some of my watchmaking tools and a properly-sized punch, but these look like friction-fit C-pins. If you have to compress the pin while inserting it, it may be a lot harder to deal with than I can handle with out right tools.

TipsyMacScotchslurpenHello TipsyMac!
The pins used for the construct are tension pins also known as roll pins. They hold up extremely well. Even with the vicious attempts of repetitive throwing of the key at trees and on the ground, in our testing, the pins did not give what so ever.
The handles are designed with precision tolerance in mind. On one of the sides the hole for the tension pin is a bit larger which makes it easy to insert and wont require one to compress the pins. Afterwards one can simply tap or press them in.
Any real locksmith should be able to cut this key without a problem. As this has not been an issue for any of our 50+ reviewers.
Should you need to swap keys in the future, we will have a section on our website where you can obtain new key blanks and tension pins as well.
All Drops will include a set of spare tension pins at no additional cost.
ButterflyKeysAhh, well that's good to hear. As for any "real locksmith" being able to handle it, I don't doubt you. What I worry about is actually having to pay a locksmith to come out to copy a key (I don't know of any locksmiths in 30+ miles who have a storefront). It is the teenager at Lowe Depot's who I worry can't pull it off. If I can take it apart and hand the blank over to be cut, then put it back together myself with a small hammer and a properly-sized punch, then everything should work out alright.
