I agree, I bought a blue yeti last week for $75 on eBay because "the sound quality was poor" and when I received it I noticed immediately the gain was set to 100%, which will make almost any mic sound distorted and bad. Turned it down to about 30% and it has pretty good sound.
I use it when I game because it has a nice stand and out don't need to use a mixing board or have any hassles like that when gaming or using skype/discord. Just plug it in and start talking.
It is quite common to find them around $80 in like new condition on eBay, some around 40-50 if the headphone jack doesn't work (even though you could then just plug it into your computer I would rather pay the bit extra to get one fully functional.)
If anyone would like to know, both mics are on sale on amazon as well. However the price for the cheaper mic CVL-2004 is $83 more expensive than here. The CVL-2008 mic is about the same price which just only about $10 off (Note that the price I'm judging by does not include shipping). Though after shipping the price for mic would be close enough if you were to add shipping to the cost. So in my opinion your not getting that much of a deal for the more expensive mic, but for the cheaper one it might be a better deal depending on your choice and application.
