I use this thing every work day in my office with Illy dark roast coffee. The brew it makes (following the instructions on the coffee can) is amazing and relatively quick. Overall cost is cheaper than starbucks after a month or two.
Its light, portable, and the brew is smooth.

Love this more than my Aeropress due to the size and compact nature, makes it easy to pack and take with me on trips. As for the complaints around leaking....it's called user error. I'd reckon most folks didn't take the time to read the instructions and find out out to use it correctly. I have had zero issues once I read the instructions.

I thought this would be a good alternate to the aeropress, but was not very impressed. I like the design, but like other people reported, it leaked the first time I used it and still leaks if I don't tighten it every time I use it. Makes a nice cup of coffee, but I would prefer the ability to make a larger cup and this is not that flexible.

I thought I'd give the Cafflano Kompact a try after having almost worn out my Aeoropress from several years of daily use.
Pros: Following Cafflano's instructions resulted in a good cup of coffee. The built in filter works well. Following the instructions caused me to use half the amount of coffee I'd habitually used in the Aeropress.
Cons: Fiddly, messy and far from foolproof. The beauty of the Aeropress is its simplicity. Good coffee with a minimum of fuss. The Kompact throws all that out the window. Like other users below, I've had leaks and blowbacks. I've also found components are easily over or under tightened. Even when everything goes right, The Kompact is a bear to clean and dry compared to the basically self-cleaning Aeropress. Finally, not as flexible as the Aeropress, which can turn out a reasonable facsimile of an espresso crema and all.
Verdict: I'll continue using the Kompact, but when it wears out or breaks, I'll replace it with an Aeropress.

This thing just exploded water over my face and clothes. I'm fine, but it wasn't a small amount and I'm lucky I wear glasses. Luckily I did a cold run to test it so I was watching, but even so the exact same thing happened to me as eSporks first try. It is not ok that the pressure relief from the bellows projecting water many feet away and up. ie: into your face. I couldn't design a more dangerous system if I tried. Yes the grind I used was fine, but not turkish fine, just the same setting that works in my Rancilo Silvia. I have used maybe 5X or even 10X as much pressure with my aeropress and paper filters with zero problems. The explosive release is all of a sudden and at height. Lawsuit waiting to happen, if I can't fix it, I will have to use it very very gently and make sure noone else touches it...

The product started 'leaking' after a couple months and now I now can't use it because applying pressure results in hot coffee spraying out! I attempted to email the supplier for customer service with zero response. Very disappointed. A simple plunger does the job just fine.

It makes me appreciate the aeropress. This product is heavier, messier, and harder to clean than the aeropress. It does fit in a smaller area and is easier to press I think. So if space or strength is a concern this might beat the aeropress In only those cases.

It does brew a good, albeit small cup of coffee. I've found that having to brew twice in order to reach a full cup of coffee was annoying. a large Clever Dripper is my go-to solution at work now.

I questioned my purchase of the Cafflano Kompact being a longtime AeroPress user; however, I have discovered an optimal use case. I brew a cup of coffee before I get to the office. Office coffee is terrible.
One cup cup is never enough! I fill my Cafflano with fresh ground before I leave house. Because of the Kompact’s size I can grind directly into it. I can seal it up and toss it in my bag. A premium cup of joe on deck, just add hot water! In a pinch, if I need a cup of office ground it tastes much better and stronger out of the Cafflano.
While it is more pricey than my AeroPress (which remains my go to at Home) it is a must better solution in my situation. I can grind into it directly, seal to brew later and take advantage of the reusable filter. I couldn’t ask for anything more!
