Fair warning, this thing is a piece of crap and the threads that hold the seal on the bellows are shit. First use the threads came undone, sprayed myself with hot water and burned my hand. This thing is going in the trash, and I'm going back to my aero press.

I have both, and I prefer the Aeropress. This thing is messier to clean up, and I was trying to avoid sending too much coffee grounds down my sink.
Output for the Cafflano is not bad, the filter is fairly fine, definitely needs less pressure applied than Aeropress, end result is comparable, but the Aeropress will produce a cleaner cup if you're using filter paper.

eSporksGlad I read these comments before joining this drop. I'll stick with my GSI collapsible pour over filter. Yeah, you have to pack out the filters and grounds which sucks, but little cleanup and no dangerous operation.

Lol.
On a quick glance, this has styling cues that look so similar to one of those red and black Paterson or Arista film processing tanks, that for the longest time I though this had something to do with photography.

Does it pack smaller than an Aeropress... yes, but is infinitely messier, more complicated and does not yield any better coffee. I have one of these stuffed in a closet (pre-MD) if you really want to purchase one and try it out. I'm sticking with my Aeropress... I just wish AP would come out with a Pyrex-style glass version.

Just get an Aeropress and call it a day. This is overrated and way more complicated.

A Porlox grinder packs perfectly in the handle of an Aeropress.

okay...so first time after a rinse gave the same result as koopa, but let dramatic. if i had wanted to get a product that i had to reseal upon receiving and have a much harder time to clean; I'm going to have to return this.
the amount of clean up after use if basically the same as an aeropress if not more; might as will bring a small Moka pot and make coffee on the camp fire.

jackychen327well the return package got sent back to me with no reason.... so i'm out some more cash and still have a defective product.
i'll just have to be extra careful on MD.
Why are there so many portable coffee products out there? Why is everyone trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist?

Smooth-ft.RobThomasLOL. That made me chuckle--not to poke fun at you...I do think it is a totally legit question. Personally, I think it's not so much a problem as an attempt towards efficiency. I notice that, as I get older, there are more and more products out there that I don't really bother to think about using until I actually do...and, although I don't need it, it does make life a little simpler.

Smooth-ft.RobThomasI prefer my coffee fresh each cup. Just my thing. And making it portable makes it all that much better.

Ok this thing just exploded water over my face and clothes. I'm fine, but it wasn't a small amount and I'm lucky I wear glasses. Luckily I did a cold run to test it so I was watching, but even so the exact same thing happened to me as eSporks first try.
It is not ok that the pressure relief from the bellows projecting water many feet away and up. ie: into your face. I couldn't design a more dangerous system if I tried. Yes the grind I used was fine, but not turkish fine, just the same setting that works in my Rancilo Silvia. I have used maybe 5X or even 10X as much pressure with my aeropress and paper filters with zero problems. The explosive release is all of a sudden and at height.
Lawsuit waiting to happen, if I can't fix it, I will have to use it very very gently and make sure noone else touches it...

Instant. One of the compromises I've come to. Contraptions break and are heavy.

I was actually just looking for something like this to take camping. I don't want the size/weight of a french press, and don't want to deal with keeping the filters of my aeropress dry/not losing them when backpacking/camping.

Oh that's great! I just have the base version and didn't know there were other options. Will look into this. Thanks!

erikbroNot necessarily trying to persuade you, but I have a little ~300ml bodum French press for my work daily driver. It's nice and would be great for camping. i get that most multicup French presses are bulky though.

I love great coffee, enough that I own a specialty coffee shop, and whenever I go camping, I just bring higher quality instant coffee. Starbucks Via Veranda is my goto, though I've yet try any of the Steeped stuff.
