Review of the metal version: Really good all year trekking poles, easy to assemble and disassemble. Works well in both summer heat and winter snow and ice. I had a bit of trouble with one when I put a lot of weight on it, since I'm a heavy guy, as it would slip a bit but I only had to tighten up the locking mechanism one rotation and it was all good after that.
I have used them to help set up a tarp + inner tent shelter and they hold up well for that too. I have also used them as emergency crutches after an injury and they have held up surprisingly well. Versatile piece of kit.
