Hi all,
What is the speciality of this drop that is different from buying from other websites or shops other than the price?
Reason why i am asking is because in singapore, online shops are selling at sgd799 with tax included and comes with local 1 yr warranty. (See attached screenshot) Where as this drop is at usd499 which converts to ard sgd700 (including import tax in singapore will be ard sgd750) and comds with massdrop warranty i suppose.
Both prices are very close sgd799 (sg online shop) vs sgd750 (massdrop) hence if there are no difference in massdrop vs other sources then i might get it from other online shops.
Lastly, i own a sony xba-z5. Is there a mark improvement with lyra 2 over z5. I hear mostly jazz, pop, vocal, classical and instruments type of music.
Thanks in advance for your advice on the above.
Regards, Bryan

GuoJingIf theres nothing difference from buying from normal online shops and if the price are pretty similar.
Then i think get it from the online shops will be safer with warranty and also earlier delivery dates.
Correct me if i am wrong.
Thanks.

GuoJingLyra II sounds like if the best of the IE800 paired with the mids and highs of the Z5. -IE800 mids and highs are thin but the bass is on point. - Z5 mids and highs are to my preference with a thicker/darker tonality, but too much midbass bloat and the IE800 has better bass balance.
I've owned all 3, Lyra is better than IE800 and the Z5 in terms of fit as well. I'd probably rate them Lyra II> Z5 > IE800.

ZiadaxThanks for the comparison.
I just change my z5 cable to the sony m20bl1 cable and reterminate to balance 2.5mm furutech carbon plug.
The sound now is much more clear and with a wider soundstage.
As of now i am very happy with z5 sound. (But i know once i hear other iems i will feel that others will be better. Haha)
As for this lyra drop, i dont see why i should join as in singapore the price is almost the same with delivery within 3 days and comes with local warranty. Unless this lyra in massdrop is special which i dont think so.
Thanks again.

ZiadaxYou are posting non stop in here and headfi. Too bad not many felt the same. I hope its not the new toy syndrome.

GuoJingIf you can get it for the same price somewhere else then yes there's no reason to join this drop. Since you'll have to deal with sluggish processing and shipping times anyways with Massdrop. I don't think there's much of an upgrade from the Z5 to Lyra to be totally honest if you're completely fine with the bass and the fit, which were problematic for me. Since you've gone the extra mile to go balanced on the Z5's which I heard bring out its full potential there probably isn't a need to upgrade now since you said you're happy with the sound.

needhelpI haven't talked about the Lyras on head-fi that often, actually I only remember talking about it once when someone asked about a comparison to the Jupiter, which I do talk about a bit more but I wouldn't call it 'nonstop', especially when my last posts there dealing with the Lyra was about a month and a half ago.
Contrary to popular belief when I first got the Lyras I didn't like them coming from a brighter earphone like the ex1000 which are my golden standard for dynamic iems and still are even after getting the Lyras. The thickness in the mids and bass I initially took as muddiness and lack of clarity and the rolled back highs felt like a lack of extension into the treble region. The more I listened to it the more I realized how similar it sounded to the JVC FX850 but not as warm, a bit better bass control, a better fit, better cable, and better build quality.
If you like neutral sound you won't like the Lyra. If you like a brighter signature you won't like the Lyra. If you prefer accuracy & detail retrieval to a colored and musical sound you probably won't like the Lyra. You see where I'm going with this? Its all subjective. My opinion does not make it a fact. I'm simply offering MY opinion because I've heard and owned a lot of the earphones here that people are asking for comparisons. This is not a cheap product. A lot of people here won't have the opportunity to demo before they join the drop. Even in a lot of my posts here I've mentioned that I don't recommend them at $700 and that depending on your needs and listening habits these may not even be worth the $500 asking price on Massdrop. If I offended you by saying the IE800 wasn't good it wasn't because I was trying to hype these up it was simply because they don't fit my tonal preferences and a darker signature like that present on the Z5 and the Lyra are more in line with what I like to hear in dynamic driver sets.
