I literally copied the title and google shopping searched this lens and it can be had for 1350 at Adorama or Best Buy currently both of whom are contracted dealers which has implications on warranty as mentioned above.

PozerpholifeThat is a totally different camera lens. Please everyone do your homework before posting bogus prices on here. The whole board is just full of people posting incorrect pricing comparisons and arguing about the price. Camera stuff is really competitive and there are so many companies out there that will sell the wrong generation lens, refurbs, open box, etc trying to make a quick buck, just be wary. If the price looks too good to be true it probably is. At least with Massdrop you know you are getting the item you ordered without any of the games the new york camera companies play. (Exception B&H and a few of the other big guys).
I am jazzed that Massdrop is expanding into camera equipment and have been following all of these closely as an avid camera enthusiast. The least we can do is stop spreading misinformation. I want these to be very successful drops so we have much more camera gear coming our way in the future ;-)

TedPhilips@luis911 and @MatthewHarris nailed it.
When looking around, keep in mind that Canon makes/made 5...yes, FIVE different current 70-200mm L series lenses: 70-200 f/4 IS and non-IS, 70-200 f/2.8 IS and non-IS, and 70-200 IS version 2. Significant price difference between a new 70-200 f/2.8L IS II and the others, but you get the wider aperture over the 'slower' f/4 versions, the enhanced optics over the version 1 units, and the image stabilization over the non-IS versions.

TedPhilips+1 on this -- know your grey market vs. USA market camera products. Compare on B&H -- they show two of the same model, one that is $400 cheaper, it most likely will have a little icon to show that it's NOT for sale in the US and thus wouldn't be eligible for the warranty. Also +1 on the specs -- USM, USM II, F/4, etc. Lots of variation here. Apples to apples.
