A fantastic camera at a great price for American buyers. Unfortunately, we Europeans must pay heavy import duty upon receipt, increasing the cost substantially. For me, buying this from Massdrop would save me only €40-50 ($45-60) from the listed Amazon price. The fact that there is no real warranty included makes it a deal-breaker.
TheIzzardKingNice to see another proud American asshole who knows nothing better but to butt in with chauvinistic comments that contribute nothing to the discussion. Hurray for rednecks 🤗
Zettolol,I'm a British citizen living in the states way of Welwyn-Garden City/Hatfield born in the old QEII.
Plenty of deals you lot get from other places over there that costs more to get state side, yet you don't see a bunch of yanks on the European sites pissing and moaning about. lol.
Unless you actually expect Massdrop to revolutionize international shipping dynamics world wide or renegotiate international trade agreements or import tariffs to save costs for you lot, what exactly is the point of your whinging? Fact is if they could make it economical for you guys they would, they want your money as much as anyone Else's and what you are whinging about is completely beyond Massdrops control... it sucks i know but you're pissing up a rope mate, hence the sad violin.
TheIzzardKingFuck off already. Just because you don't give a fuck about something doesn't give you the right to be a jerk about someone else's well founded grievances. Or you just a shill on MD's payroll? 😣
Zettoare you fucking retarded? Send a letter to parliament if you are upset with the duties, wtf do you expect Massdrop to do about import duties? serious question you git.
not a shill, just can't stand morons and you lot constantly whinging on here about import duties is pretty fucking stupid.
TheIzzardKingWell.. For starters Massdrop could make deals that ship the merchandise within the European Union and that way make it much cheaper without import duties. It's not that hard to negotiate a deal like that with the right companies. Massdrop have simply prioritized NA which I totally understand, but I tell ya - if the company of the product or Massdrop themselves ship inside EU and put in a small amount on marketing over here they could make even more money.
But I'm not whining about the taxes and import duties, it's better as it is now than if Massdrop didn't exist at all. Some items we can still save a decent amount on - but a DSLR might not be the best opportunity to save some cash.
aMpyDude, sounds like you're quite the import/export genius... I'm surprised your screen name isn't Art Vandelay. Maybe Massdrop should hire you to manage all their European "deals" so that they can make lots of money selling you stuff for cheaper than the professionals have apparently deemed possible ;)
Kingopaini ship millions of dollars of tools and equipment to airbus in broughton......I'm not an expert but know enough to know what they are dealing with.
dick.
aMpyjust as an example cannon north America is a completely different entity than that of the EU branch, it would require a completely different deal with completely different people...like i said above they want peoples money they would make the same deal for everyone if they could and they even do in some cases but often there are too many other barriers for them to be able to do it...
essentially what people are asking is for MD to discount the price even further just so the EU can get the deal at the same price as what we get here in the US, it's really unreasonable on alot of different levels.
TheIzzardKingHey Izzy - my reply was directed not at you, but at aMpy (and the others who don't seem to understand the challenges of circumventing international taxes and duties), which is why I was sarcastically quoting him. I agree with the comments you've made.
My sarcasm may not come across so well in text, but my intent was to ridicule their notions that Massdrop should be looking into heretofore unidentified practices and making "deals" (god they sound like Trump...) in order to make "even more money" in a field that even many of the biggest retailers can't hack.
I try only to be a dick to those who deserve a dick.
