Vasili Arkhipov is famous as the senior officer who perhaps averted the outbreak of Nuclear conflict during the height of the Cold War. In honor of Arkhipov’s momentous decision, CCCP created this handsome 100-meter water-resistant automatic watch Read More
But you can NOT argue there is something really wrong when the good old U.S of A has only NOT been in a time without war ( for resources ) for 18 years in the past 280 YEARS !!! what other country can top that ?

I don’t disagree. Lives and money down the toilet.
I say defund the American Military-Industrial Complex.
Actually Dwight Eisenhower said it first.
really sorry to see a lack of information on this watch in the description. HOWever, i bought one of these off ebay 6 months ago and can fill people in on it...it's really a great watch, especially for this price.
first, it has the seiko NH35 movement. second, yes, the bezel is rotating. haven't worn it in a while, but if i recall correctly, it's 120 clicks unidirectional.
has 100m water resistance plus a push pull crown, so not a real 'diver', but that info is relayed here in the ad copy.
for the life of me i don't know why the movement isn't mentioned as it's a great one for the price, as well as bezel info. i paid about $150 for mine new, so this is a great price. the QC is xlnt on these. so if you're looking for a cool 100m sport watch with an excellent movement, and some retro Soviet chic, i'd scoop it up. and non, i'm not affiliated with them or drop in any way...i just happened to have one and i like it.
definitely i'd get this! i like mine, but mine has a plastic bezel...this one's all steel. as for the miyota, it probably does NOT have hacking seconds. i did get a jack mason diver that had the newer miyota 82 series (an 821a?) that has hacking. while that's great, the problem with the 8200 series miyota is the secondary drive seconds hand, attached to a second pinion, not the main hands drive. what that means as you likely know is that when shaken or knocked, the seconds hand stutters and stops for an instant. while the hour and minute hand accuracy are NOT affected, the seconds hand falls behind each time it stops. unacceptable for me. i've already swapped a miyota 9200 series movement in a watch that had the 82 series (my watchmaker did it) and it's a vast improvement. you need a different spacing ring as the 9200s are a different thickness. anyway, look forward to you letting us know what movement you've got in this baby!
Hard to imagine anyone is actually falling for the "Russian" angle on these watches.
Yes, once upon a time some Russians made watches in a Russian factory using SLAVA movements (many of which were copied from designs stolen from Western countries, especially Germany which the Soviets "annexed" (occupied) after WWII. In other words, it ain't like they actually invented anything, or made any significant contributions to the world horology.
So if we didn’t trust those commie-rats during the Cold War, why should we trust them now?
And don't get me started about that poor dog they shot up into space!

Meanwhile, Kitschey-Russkie marketing schtick aside, the parent company of CCCPTime has little if anything to do with Mother Russia or the not so fabled Slava watch works. Instead this company makes its home in Hong Kong (not Saint Petersburg), and they're just selling you another Chinese watch. It might tick with a Russian accent, but that's as far as it goes, comrade!

Interesting story and it does indeed sound like he prevented an all-out nuclear war between the US and the USSR, (which, in turn would have certainly involved the NATO alliance and then China), which one could reasonably assume would have lead to the end of civilization as we knew it. Those days are over--neither country is what they were then, and lord knows there are fewer people (true heroes) willing to take a stand and face the potential political consequences Vasili did in '62.
Having read a brief account of his actions and character, I seriously doubt he would have approved of naming any watch after himself, let alone this especially cheesy example.
While we're on the subject, the current state of affairs in Russia, the US, and China make this a good time to reconsider idiotic, tribal expressions of nationalism (including watches). Preservation of HUMAN existence comes first; petty team sports can wait for saner times.
Taking advice from you would be, like, really really stoopid. I could make a living doing the exact opposite of everything you post. Not a very good one, but still. don't listen to him TigerUK, if you want to spend 99 bucks on an automatic watch that looks pretty cool, you ought to just do it! You will be surprised how decent a watch these are for 99 bucks. And watch Ashford's stock of CCCP watches too, they often go on sale for 50-80, and they also list the watches that have Seiko movements. These are some of the best watches you can get for under a hundred bucks, period. Obviously they aren't ever going to be on the level of watches that go for 3 to infinity times more, but for this kind of money there's nothing at all wrong with them./ that's just my opinion, or you could stuff a pineapple up your butt and listen to RayF. I'd sooner go with the pineapple ...no offense Ray
Just to be clear - this is NOT a Russian watch, this is cheap Chinese imitation. If you ant Russian - buy Amphibia or Vostok, they are cheaper than this drop.
