Sophisticated with a hint of sportiness, the Citizen BL5470 solar watch toes the line between function and fashion. The dial layout is well balanced Read More
I have this watch for about 4 years and this is a great watch. Both stylish and functional.
Two time zones and alarm clock are very useful when traveling.
The leather strap worn out after about 2.5 years of wearing on alternate days.
drummerHow would you describe the alarm loudness?
I have a somewhat similar watch BL5250 with the E812 previous movement (E820 on this drop) and on mine the alarm is undetectable unless I hold the watch against my ear. This is a common problem with the BL5250 - the titanium back is too rigid for the piezo element to vibrate it.
larsvIt's loud enough especially then you put it on some hard surface (like desk). I clearly can hear the alarm even outside the room. Not sure if it can wake a deep sleeper, though.
cm.rookI keep telling people: yes, it may be cheaper on Amazon, but you get it in 2 days. That’s a terrible deal for people who prefer to wait a month and pay more money.
I love the movement this watch uses, but I am not a fan of this particular model watch. Hands are too short for the size, and it is a really a watch that would work better at 42mm instead of 44mm. Rotating bezel would be better too. But the perpetual calendar of this movement is a great feature, and if you travel the 2nd time zone function is also a great convenience. I have had the titanium pilot-style Eco-Drive with this E820 movement for 10 years and have never needed to advance the date at the end of the month. Gains about 40 seconds between the DST changeover weekends.
I've had several Citizen Eco-Drive watches, and liked all of them. I'm wondering how loud the alarm is on this model? Can it be heard while wearing it and talking, for example? I'm guessing it's not loud enough to wake you while dozing. Or is it?
cgalnyI heard the alarm while wearing it in a plane during the flight. But I'm not considering this alarm as a main alarm clock while sleeping and always duplicate it with my mobile phone alarm clock.
They have it priced like it is the titanium model ($395) but it is the stainless steel. You can get this in two days on Amazon for $169. Exact same serial number and specs. This is a bait and switch.
breakjeiI own a citizen with a perpetual calendar. Once the date is set it stays set. I've never had to set the date since I owned it (got it for an anniversary present in 2015). I only have to adjust the time for daylight savings time. Citizen makes great movements and the Citizen warranty and customer service is very good at least in my experience.
