Faced with a closet full of the trendy, pricey, ill-fitting clothes she’d accumulated over the years, Closet Case Patterns founder Heather Lou gave herself a challenge: For one year, any new items she added had to be made with her own two hands. So she set off sewing: an act that felt radical, intentional, and creative. She made clothing that fit her body perfectly, was truly one of a kind, and held meaning that no ready-to-wear piece ever could. Then, she started Closet Case Patterns, a company that gives modern makers the tools and techniques they need. Thoughtfully tailored with a modern, figure-flattering fit, these PJs are made for lounging and looking good doing it. The top features a classic notched collar, curved hem, and breast pocket with three sleeve options. For a matching set, choose a straight-legged pant (with or without a cuff) or a cuffed short. Both the pants and shorts have an elasticized waist, pockets, and a faux fly. Plus, you can personalize your set by adding contrasting piping details.

• Suggested fabric: Light- to medium-weight wovens like cotton flannel, linen, quilting cottons, shirting, lawn, double gauze, rayon challis, silk crepe, or charmeuse.
• Additional supplies: Fusible interfacing (1 yd / 0.9 m), 5 shirt buttons (10–15mm), 1.5” / 38mm wide elastic x 2 yds, thread, marking tool.
• Optional supplies: Piping for shirt (3.5 yds / 3.2 m), piping for pants or shorts (2 yds / 1.8 m).

A chic cool-weather staple, this coat features raglan sleeves and an unstructured A-line silhouette. View A hits at mid-thigh with a face-framing collar, princess sleeves, an exposed asymmetrical zipper, and welt pockets. View B has a more minimalist vibe: Double-breasted, it ends at the hip with inseam pockets, full-length sleeves, and a dramatic funnel collar.

• Suggested fabric for body: Medium- to heavyweight coating fabrics like melton, felt, tweed, and boiled wool. Bottomweight fabrics like denim, twill, and canvas are also suitable for a lightweight spring or fall jacket.
• Suggested fabric for lining: Silk, rayon bemberg, flannel-backed satin.
• Suggested fabric for interfacing: Fusible weft interfacing. View A also requires 1/4 yard (0.25 m) of horsehair canvas, sturdy muslin, or a heavier-weight interfacing to stabilize the collar.
• Additional supplies: 2.5 yards (2.25 m) 1/4” (6mm) stay tape for stabilizing armholes and collar, separating coat zipper for View A, 6 buttons or sew-in snap closures for View B, tailor's ham and press cloth, marking tool, thread.

Featuring a classic shape with a modern cut, this simple coat is a great choice for transitional weather. Lightweight and unlined, it has a two-piece cuffed sleeve, an optional drawstring waist, a gusseted flap pocket, and a zipper placket with snap buttons. View A will keep you warm and dry with a roomy three-piece hood, while View B has a classic standup collar.

• Suggested fabric: Light- to medium-weight woven fabric like twill, gabardine, ripstop, Gore-Tex, and linen.
• Additional supplies: 12 x 1/2”–5/8" (12–15mm) metal snap buttons, 26” separating coat zipper, 1 1/2” yard (1.3 m) 5mm drawstring, polyester thread, marking tool.
• Optional supplies: 3 yards of double-fold bias tape to finish neckline and coat hem, 2 grommets (size #0 or #1, inside diameter 6–7 mm), topstitching thread.

A fresh take on old-school denim style, these jeans are designed for non-stretch and selvage denim. Each pair features a mid-rise, traditional five-pocket construction, along with a contoured waistband, tapered leg, and button fly. The Morgan fits snugly through the hip but relaxes and conforms to your curves with a little wear; size up for a slouchier, more casual fit. Choose a regular or cropped inseam, and add an optional leather waistband patch if you’d like.

• Suggested fabric for jeans: Light- to heavyweight non-stretch and selvage denim. Please note that heavier-weight denims do not have as much give and may require going up a size.
• Suggested fabric for pockets: Medium-weight wovens, such as quilting cotton.
• Additional supplies: Jeans buttons (size 0–14 x 4, size 16–18 x 5, size 20 x 6), topstitching and regular thread, 1/4 yd fusible interfacing, marking tool, denim needles.
• Optional supplies: Denim rivets, small patch of leather for optional waistband patch.
