skullYA short (but good!) update here- the silver and polycarbonate cases are on their way to me now. I should have them in hand by the end of the week, or next Monday at the latest.

pimpelkramIt will be about 2 weeks after I give the factory the go ahead. I may give them the go ahead this coming week, or we may need to go back and forth some more. I don't want to commit to anything more specific just yet.

I wanted to take a minute to update everyone on the state of this drop. The truth is that I haven't had enough information to give the kind of updates I would like to, and there's only so many ways I can say, "we're working on it but waiting for the factory."
In September we were on track to have keyboards going out on time. And then we released the AEK64, and some of you may be familiar with the defects that plagued that. Almost all of them were anodizing "burn marks", which is why so many cases seem to have similar markings. This started a process of review and improvement with the factory. That process has been drawn out due to China's National Day festival at the beginning of October and some life events that my business partner (who handles most of our communication with the factory) has been dealing with.
The good news is that last night we skyped with our factory rep. All machining is done, and only anodization remains. They are anodizing 25 silver cases and will be shipping those along with the polycarbonate bottoms this week. I will receive those and inspect them for quality. Assuming everything looks good, I will give the go ahead to anodize the rest of the production run. I will also fulfill any silver orders I can from that shipment.
I apologize for how long this process is taking. After the first drop we tried to improve quality with the original factory but were not able to. This factory is new but they are already very responsive to our needs and concerns. We'll get these shipping as soon as we can.
