Video warning: crazy white dudes with axes using really awful form and a bit of cultural appropriation to slice apart animal remains. Technically, no animals were harmed in the making of this video?

JesseArtYeah, all cold steel videos need to come with a "trigger warning". They're the only big company I can think of that make such an effort to try to prove how good their tools are against flesh and bone, be it animal carcasses or human ballistic dummies. It's more then a little cringe-worthy, even if you aren't the squeamish type

JesseArtDon't watch then? Adults complaining over a video is just silly, me wasting my time writing this is silly...safe spaces, offended,...

TortoiseThunderDon't watch only works if you know it's coming No one said they should change their videos, their choice if that's what they want to do, but there should be a warning. It's not only grown adults that have access to those YouTube clips

More like their awful attempts at emulating Chinese/Hong Kong axe gang members of the 1920-30s. I guess I should spell out my sarcasm next time as my original comment seems to have been misunderstood by some.

I just love when people use the "there's something worse, so this isn't so bad" argument....as if that really ever makes a difference

KavikYeah, I grew up in the country, was a young scout, and went hunting from time to time, so I'm not averse to seeing death. But to me, personally, this video displays a complete disregard for the life of the animals they're hacking away at. That, more than anything, surprised me. You can easily display the sharpness of one's blade using other methods. In Iaido (Japanese sword art based on Samurai traditions), we test the sharpness of our blades by slicing bamboo wrapped in tightly woven tatami mats. Obviously, in modern civilized societies, we're not allowed to behead petty thieves to test our blades as the Samurai were known to.
My girlfriend's also a card carrying Native American, so her lens has also highlighted a lot of the stupid shit white people do for me. Here, we have overcompensating white dudes with tools (weapons) based on Native designs being used in ways Natives never would. I guess I also just found that ironic.

JesseArtAnother fair point about the irony there that I hadn't considered
I've seen the tests with tatami wrapped bamboo.... I think that's what they were trying to emulate with slicing the big cardboard tubes? Hahaha
