A celebration of the golden age of fountain pens, the Conklin Heritage series reimagines the designs of yesteryear using modern materials and manufacturing processes. Each pen features a lightweight resin body with a screw-on cap, pocket clip, and stainless steel nib. The collection’s defining characteristic, though, is its use of vintage filling mechanisms. These vary by model, from side button fillers to sleeve fillers—each one a proud ode to company founder Roy Conklin, who created the first self-filling fountain pen in 1897.
Note: At checkout, choose the Conklinetta Senior Side Button Filler in black or mocha, or the Sleeve Filler in black or gray. Nibs come in fine, medium, or 1.1mm stub.
The Conklinetta Senior is a side button filler, which means you can fill it with ink by pressing the button on the side of the pen. First, rotate the ring on the barrel to unlock the filling mechanism. Then, immerse the nib and part of the grip section in your ink bottle of choice. Slowly press the button to force the air out of the ink sac, wait several seconds, and slowly release the side button to draw ink up into the reservoir. Repeat these steps five or six times until the reservoir is full.
The other pen available on this drop is a sleeve filler. Once you’ve placed the nib in the ink bottle, you’ll need to use your thumb and forefinger to depress the metal bar. Wait several seconds, then slowly release the metal bar. Repeat five or six times, reassemble your pen, and you’re ready to write.
